We are coming up on one year since we lost Snickers. We still hold hope that someone will contact us to return her.
New information:
The handler that picked her up that was to show her at a show in Texas, confided into someone that SHE DID NOT SLIP THE LEASH. I knew this was something that Snickers wouldn't do. Upon arriving on Lexco Rd, the handler stopped at the mailboxes. Snickers WAS NOT IN A CRATE as he stated. SHE DID NOT HAVE A SLIP LEAD around her neck. She was sitting in the truck as he drove then stopped. He stopped at the mailboxes, opened the door, left the door open and got out to get the mail. He had to walk around the truck to get to the boxes based on the location of the boxes on Lexco coming in from 66. She jumped out of the truck. He was unaware she jumped out until he got back to the drivers side. Instead of staying put and calling others to come look for her, he went home. It was completely dark outside.
She does like to jump out of the van and run to the front door. I almost think that she saw the Fire Station post across from the mail boxes and went to that place. She probably realized she was not home and went back finding the handler gone. We did have paw prints around a red barn in that area as well as under the school portable buildings.
I do believe she would venture out to look for our house, but would come back to the location she knew. The initial sightings (we think were her) had her going down roads, then coming back towards Wilson Loop/Lexco/66.
I do believe she was friended by someone who has her. She was very friendly, and full of drive. She loves children and loves to play ball. She is a very playful dog and extremely talented and fast.
Because we are coming up on the one year mark, people most likely would get vaccines (though she is up to date with rabies). I need everyone's help. If you can print off a flyer from my www.bringsnickershome.com website, and posting at the vets offices, dog food stores, and feedstores, that would be perfect. If a grocery store has a message board, please put it up if you can. If your church has a bulletin board, please put it up if you can. The school district will not let me post anything at all. With schools being active, there might be a chance a kid has her, and will see her.
We still hold hope to find Snickers. With animal rights activists taking away a dogs right to be with their families blaming the owner for them missing, we fight a continued battle to find her. The handler NO LONGER lives in NM, nor did he look for her. All the wonderful volunteers did all they could to help find Snickers. I will always be grateful.
We are now at $27K in expenses. We had to retain an attorney to hold the person who lost her accountable. Snickers is our sweet girl dog that loved puppies, she was the best puppy nanny, bestie to her dog friends who loved chasing each other and playing fetch, was Timmy's ears when he was outside and it was noisy, and my driving buddy. She was the only dog that would stay in the front yard and not run off. She learned her boundaries and didn't cross. She didn't meet a person that she didn't like. She was energetic and full of life.
Snickers come home. We miss you!
