We’re officially handing over the reins.

Mia first came to us from The Horse Shelter, and for the past 8 years, she’s been one of our most trusted trail ambassadors carrying riders, building confidence, and quietly changing lives along the way.

Now, through our After the Adventure program, Mia is stepping into her next chapter.

She’s been adopted by Eddie and Meryl.

And if you know Meryl, you know this was always the plan. Our head wrangler has said from the beginning, “One day, she’s coming home with me.”

That day is here.

From rescue… to trail partner… to forever home.

Training plans. Milestones. Measurable progress. 📋🐎

And yes… those things matter.

But sometimes?

Sometimes I don’t need another structured session.
I don’t need a stopwatch.
I don’t need a breakthrough.

I just need a long conversation in a quiet field.

With a rescue horse who isn’t trying to achieve anything.
Who isn’t chasing ribbons.
Who is simply learning how to feel safe in their own body again.

At Enchantment Equine Rehabilitation Center, progress doesn’t always wear a saddle. Sometimes it looks like stillness. Like shared breath. Like two nervous systems deciding to soften together. 🌾

On the Winter Solstice, we honor rest as sacred, darkness as necessary, and the promise of longer days ahead.

Sore feet after pulling shoes are common—and comfort is the goal. 🐴🤍

When a horse is tender, we start with a warm Epsom salt soak to soften the hoof and increase circulation. Next, we pack the sole with ichthammol to help draw out bruising or a possible abscess. We also apply poultice mud to the top of the hoof to pull out heat and inflammation.

Everything is wrapped snugly in a diaper to hold moisture, then secured with Vetrap to keep it all in place. This setup does its job for about 12 hours, giving the hoof time to settle and heal.

Slow, thoughtful care makes all the difference—one hoof at a time. 🤎
