Herd dynamics.
The first step in healing our horses is letting them just be horses. We turn them out with our established herd and let them start the process. Horses find comfort in the stability of herd routine, hierarchy, and social interaction.Some horses (like racehorses) have never been a part of a herd, and may be socially awkward at first. Once that safety and understanding has been established, we’re able to start the human and horse interactions. Phoenix has found his place in the herd (usually by the side of one the mares).
