Thanks to everyone who came to the cover crop workshop! We got to taste cowpea leaves and other summer vegetables in different dishes and desserts. Hopefully this might inspire us to add some cover crops in our gardens and our kitchen! If you are interested in the recipes, you can find them in the last picture.

Meet Marta De Angulo, Sentli's new farm manager. We're very pleased to welcome Marta to our team. She has collaborated with Sentli for 2 years, leading groups on our school field trips and will now lead the way with laying the foundations of our food forest. Marta has been practicing permaculture in the Rio Grande Valley for the past six years and is certified in Forest Gardening, Permaculture Design, and Permaculture Teaching. There have been about 7,000 earthworm species described by scientists worldwide but they believe there are more than 30,000 species to yet be described! Earthworms are underground ecosystem engineers and fall into three main groups: epigeic, anecic, and endogeic. Each varies in what they do for the system, but all are beneficial. Earthworms feed on organic matter and through their waste, also called casts, they add nutrients into the soil. They create burrows that provide better aeration, improve soil drainage, as well as spread beneficial bacteria as they move through the soil. They have also been shown to improve soil nitrogen along with many other benefits. So if you see earthworms in your garden soil, don't fret, this is a great indicator that your garden has healthy soil & an overall healthy system. #tidbitswithsentli #soilhealth 🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱🪱 Los científicos de todo el mundo han descrito alrededor de 7,000 especies de lombrices de tierra, ¡pero creen que aún quedan más de 30,000 especies por describir!
