Yesterday we had tons of fun at the SCDGA Nutty Goat Show! Bate’s Nut Farm is a beautiful venue and showing on grass under the shade trees is such a treat.
We took two milking Nubians and two junior Nubians as well as two Nigerian juniors. While we didn’t rosette we were in championship line up a few times with our home bred does.
Placements were hard to keep track of as the day blurred by. These are the highlights I remember.

Nubians:
Three year old De Lagos Teavanna was 3rd in rings 2 & 3
Intermediate junior doe Clauson Pty 5 Beauty Queen was 1st in the 2nd ring and top 5 in the 3rd ring

Nigerians:
Dry yearling Clauson Pty 5 Deliah was 4th in the 3rd ring
Intermediate Junior doe Clauson Pty 5 Fantastic Fiona was 1st in the 3rd ring

We are soooo very excited to announce that Clauson Pty 5 Devine Diva received Grand Champion this past weekend! This is the first time a Clauson Party of Five goat has received this award!
Unfortunately, there were no pictures of this wonderful event.
Pictured below is another doe that we own Bella Creek RS Spicy Desire, receiving reserve grand champion. Spicy went reserve champion in ring one & two and finally had her moment in ring three where she was awarded grand champion.

Avery had her first goat show wearing her red vest representing East County Grange today at the local county fair. It was an excellent experience. I have many fond memories of showing multiple animals at this fair and am so grateful my kids can have similar memories.

Avery took two does to the show; one junior and one senior doe.
Avery placed sixth in showmanship in a large competitive class of intermediate showman.
Avery and Fiona took first place in the junior dough class.
Avery and winter took place in the two year-old class.
Avery and Winter returned to the ring to compete for grand champion and took home the reserve champion.

We appreciate everyone’s hard work putting on this show and the judge for spending time with the exhibitors. We all learned something today and that is truly the goal of this experience.

Our 2024 linear appraisal is now in the books.
The day was a blur. I’m so thankful for our wonderful appraiser that spent time with us. I’m also thankful for Holli Deckard of HJ Summit Farms for all her support and for hosting us.
Here’s a quick picture I snapped on my second trip home. So thankful for my hubby for sacrificing his car.
Tomorrow I will goating again and loving every minute!

Another belated kid announcement. Last week the De Lagos Teavanna kidded with buck 💙 and doe 🎀 twins. The buck will be wethered and the doe is reserved.

Time for some belated kidding announcements. Last Monday Clauson Party Of Five Francesca gave us our first set of Nubian triplets ! Two bucks 💙💙 and a doe🎀. The bucks will be wethered and available to a pet home. For now the doe is retained.

Yesterday was an eventful day. Kelly, our single La Mancha milk maid doe had triplets. Two bucks and a doe. It was a rough kidding and I had to call in reinforcements. Poor Kelly will be sore for a while.
Unfortunately one of the bucks only lasted an hour but the other two kids are strong and healthy.
These kids will be available once they are older.

This afternoon FLAA ZOO Ms Natalie Buttercup kidded with twin does 🎀🎀. One little girl is bigger than expected but with a little assistance Buttercup pushed her out. One doe has blue eyes. I’m not sure about the other. Both of these little ladies will be 👀 for a new farm to call their own in a few weeks. They can go registered and will be disbudded. Pm if you are interested.

This afternoon HJ Summit Farm TW Winter Love kidded with quads. Three girls 🎀🎀🎀 and a boy 💙. These kids are sired by HJ Summit Farm Lilred Corvette. Corvette is the son of Wolfivan Licorice Root, the daughter of the late SGCH Joyful Hearts KR Phoebe 2*M VEEE 91 and Agape’s Prize Sulaymaan Quinn.
Winter is one of our promising young does that we are fortunate to have in our herd. She is the daughter of a wonderful doe Hooligans Farm Game Of Love and sired by Wolfivan WP Tennessee Whiskey *B.

This pedigree is packed with quality. These does won’t be going anywhere. The buckling will be available to a pet home once weaned.

This past Saturday HJ Summit Farms TW Mudslide kidded with quads. Three does 🎀🎀🎀 and a buck 💙. These are the first babies from HJ Summit Farms P Brawler a buck we leased this year, after I fell in love with the guy.

I’m sure I won’t be able to keep them all but I want too.

This morning Ca Blackberry’s WP Artemis kidded with twin bucks sired by Ca Blackberry’s Lunar Dragon. My fingers and toes were crossed for a doe but it was not to be 😩. Mom is doing great and the babies are healthy and strong

Both boys are available and will not be registered.

Spring is in full swing here on the farm. I can’t remember ever feeling spring so clearly. Maybe it’s that this is our fourth year on the farm and life is really starting to bloom. Haha
The trees in the orchard are all waking up. There is blossoms all around. Beautiful baby goats and cute little chicks just hatched. Spring is all around.

Yesterday Avery and I had our first mobile goat experience. We were honored to bring our new baby goats to Meme’s 80th birthday. I think the goats loved the snuggles as much as the humans. I enjoy sharing these kind creatures with others.

Lamby went to her new adopted home today with other sheep friends and lots of room to roam. We will miss her but will visit her soon.

Keeping goats and sheep together requires more room than we have at our home and they have different dietary needs that are difficult to balance when they live together.

Spent this beautiful San Diego day at the zoo. I don’t think we have been since farming took over our lives. It was nice to get out and about.
