Good morning everyone! We woke up to the sound of Shayne barking this morning. It’s a very distinct chirp sounding bark that we rarely hear. I was excited, yet concerned, so no time to check the camera. I moved as quickly as possible trying not to alarm the others and create a bark fest. I held my breath as I slowly opened the door to see Shayne wide eyed, asking me to come sit and play with him. He actually played with a toy for the very first time. He even growled and barked playfully. This is a mental milestone for him and a moment of pure joy for me. Seeing him happy and pain free, even for a brief moment, gives me encouragement to make it to the next milestone. LGR has received very little financial support since Christmas and I have been trying to cover the expenses of vet care and food on my own. Please consider donating if you’re able. I appreciate any help you’re able to give. 🥹💕🐾🐶
Remus
A star is born!! Don’t you wish you could play the snowman like Remus? Where’s the talent scouts?😁😂
Shayne
Shayne is still doing well. He has made some progress physically but the most progress has been made mentally and emotionally over the last couple of weeks. I feel encouraged with that because that’s what brings the biggest physical milestones. New behaviors and first… He has started playing with me by grabbing my hand with his front paws and burrowing his head in my hands. He has finally discovered a treat that he loves, it’s a beef yum yum stick (basically looks like the beef jerky slim jim for humans 😁) he loves them!! He gives me attitude when he doesn’t like something. For example, when he gets mad about taking medicine or I don’t offer the exact food he’s craving, he will turn and face the wall and ignore me, and he can do that move better that a 15 year old female madly in love with a guy that you don’t approve of 😏🤪🤣 He has been socializing with the other pups while protected by the playpen and has direct contact with only a few pups at a time with supervision. He can stand briefly on his own and take a step as seen in this video. I received his special floatation collar so hopefully we will try water therapy today. I do have concerns about his pain, I don’t truly know the level of pain that he has and if it will ever go away completely. That bothers me so I bother Jesus about it. Shayne deserves to be pain free and I continue to pray for a miracle. Please continue to pray with me, share his story, invite friends to follow or donate to Lady Grace Rescue. I really appreciate everyone’s support and kindness for this little guy and all other pups here at LGR!! ☺️🐶🥰🐾💕
Enrichment toys
Keeping the enrichment toys busy during the cold, rainy weather. Valentine loves the snuffle ball 😊🐾💕🐶
Remus
Remus has been here for over 6 months now and today he started playing with a ball. Every single milestone with these sweet rescues is worthy of celebrating. Some progress slower than others but that’s okay. I love these little victories of overcoming fear due to neglect and abuse.
Shayne
Edit.. I wrote a short novel about Shayne and for some reason only the video posted 😤😩 I don’t have time now but I will post an update later tonight.
Shayne
Went to visit Shayne in hopes to lift his spirits and encourage eating and drinking. One bowl of beef bone broth, two servings of food and movement on his own to get closer for cuddles, I think it was a huge success. Thank you all for the prayers, keep them coming!! ☺️🐶💕🐾🥰
