Ladies & Gentleman! I’m so excited to make this announcement and hopefully that at this giving time of year some of y’all will be able to help us achieve our goal! We have found a place that is willing to let us rent their space for our Cat Cafe! So we’ll be needing a lot of supplies to get it up and running! If you can help in anyway shape or form we would appreciate it!

Cats are amazing creatures.

In 1421 AD, a flood swept through the Netherlands, submerging 72 villages and drowning between 2,000 & 10,000 people.

Survivors saw a piece of wood floating on the water, and a cat was jumping back and forth on it.

People wanted to save it, but they were surprised to find a child sleeping peacefully. The cat was alternately jumping on the edges of the bed to maintain its balance so that the child would not drown.

This story was very famous in the Netherlands, and 4 centuries later the event was immortalized in the painting “The Inundation of The Biesbosch in 1421” by Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema.

This story is the origin of the wording “the cat’s in the craddle”

The baby was named Beatrijs / Beatrix when she was found, which means “the bringer of good luck / joy” but also “the lucky one”

Although nowadays it’s not a commonly known story in majority of The Netherlands anymore, it is known to those who grew up in the Biesbosch area.

These two just got dropped off a couple hours ago. A friend found them in her yard last night and the mother never returned. So she brought them to us. They have been bottle fed and are sleeping in a heating pad covered in some of my old tshirts. We are going to foster them until they are old enough to adopt.

I had put this dream of Cat Rescue and Cafe on pause with the start of the school year, but God keeps pushing me in this direction. Today the cat distribution system left three orphaned kittens in my friend’s backyard. They decided to keep one if them, so we are fostering the other two until they are old enough to go to their forever homes.

He only got to be a part of our family for 3 months. But this was his forever home. We just didn’t know when we adopted him how short forever was going to be. We cleaned him up and got rid of his fleas, got his teeth fixed and loved him more than words can express, but Lung cancer is a beast. It breaks my heart to know he passed away at home while we were all at school and work, but In the end he was loved. I hope we made his last few months a little bit of heaven on earth. 💔

This is why it’s important to make sure you take your kittens to the vet and keep them up to date on treatments and vaccines as there has been a sudden uptick in Feline Paneukopenia locally.
