A successful animal body worker will have veterinarians on their team, and vet referrals can be a valuable source of new clients!

"There are high demands placed on equine athletes, and even the 'weekend warrior' horse is prone to athletic stress. Most of my practice is focused on the equine athlete and I frequently refer patients for massage. I see massage as a powerful adjunct to other therapies. It will often make a chiropractic or acupuncture patient more amenable to treatment, and can occasionally be used to help lengthen the interval in between a patient needing more invasive treatments."

Had the opportunity to help with a presentation about canine and equine massage at the Bel Rea Vet Tech school in Denver, which included live demos on Cori the dog and a school horse. The most powerful thing that I walked away with was students and their instructor telling me in awe that the horse was the quietest and calmest they'd ever seen- she was completely relaxed and zen. Loved being able to show first hand- on a horse I'd never seen- just how powerful massage can be. A beautiful soul to work with. 💜 with Rocky Mountain School of Animal Acupressure and Massage

One of the many uses for amazing Equi-Tape! So many happy releases from this boy while I was applying the tape. :)

This is a great taping (by Callie Rulli) on an older horse that struggles with kissing spines! He's hairy, and lives outside. This photo was taken 3-4 days after application!

Teaching Equine Massage Level 1 this week! We have been up to our ears in rain this spring but things are finally drying out. Foaled out a healthy baby almost a week ago, getting new dutch doors on the barn, and getting new footing around the property. Teaching is actually a break this week!

Has been a very busy few months! Recently I co-taught Equine Massage Level 1 for RMSAAM, and am getting ready to take over teaching the class starting next month. I have been writing new equine courses for the school (stay tuned!), and guest lecturing for the neuroscience portion of classes. This weekend the other intern Sarah and I will be attending an Equitape certification class (kinesio tape for horses). Spring has sprung here in the Rockies and we at RMSAAM and Acadia Equine Rehabilitation are all hitting the ground running!

The beginning of some blogs I'm working on for RMSAAM--the topic? Neuroscience!!

Neuroscience…such an intimidating name for the study of the nervous system. There’s the joke that a brain surgeon goes to a party, and after asking each person what their job is says, “Well, it’s n...

Today I accompanied Jenny of Acadia Equine Rehabilitation and one of her rehab horses to a veterinarian who practices equine chiropractic and acupuncture. It was a huge learning experience watching this horse's treatment. There are so many modalities to help get animals back into working condition!

Benny the rope horse loved being a massage case study. :) His owners were excited by how freely he now moves and how "he just looks like he feels better". In their words: "Why would anybody turn down something so beneficial for their animals?" Thanks for being such a great teacher, Benny!
