Last night Roxy got to have a “movie night” with Ellie’s family. She is perfect inside and has never met a stranger. Roxy enjoys snacks, naps, getting petted, and hugging you. Everything was rainbows and butterflies❤️Let’s find her a foster home. She is soooo ready!
MelanieSuzanne was helping consistently with me last year at the shelter. Her sister came a few times when we had safe fruppadoos for her to play with.
Stella asked for a bunny today from Santa. His words of wisdom hit the nail on the head. Thanks Santa!

Roxy finally made her introduction video (like a week late)- she made it, not us🤷🏻♀️She’s a heart thief!! Roxy loves her some men♥️She made this video for the guys! Roxy is a “usually lazy couch potato” who likes to make sure to remind herself she was once young and probably a total mess! She’s aged out of that stage and we just adore her.

So unfortunately we never took the “how to operate an animal rescue in the mountains in a county with no animal control after a hurricane” class when we were both in college. Take a look at the previous 3 days, and we are so thankful to everyone who has jumped in to help our rescue. There are many photos missing from this video and we will post them as they’re sent to us. Countless animal welfare groups have made special trips to our mountains. The support we feel for our mountain cats and dogs is incredible and SO MOTIVATING!

Hope update!
These are the update photos/vids we got today about Hope! The entire video is one the internet made for us. It is perfect. Hope’s jaw has healed on its own, a miracle some would say. Today she had her eye removed and now it’s time for her to finally LIVE! Thank you The Humane Society of the United States🫶🐾🐾

We try very hard to phrase posts as appropriately as possible. Sometimes it takes me an hour to write a few paragraphs just to phrase them well enough as to not offend someone or ✨JEOPARDIZE A CRUELTY CASE✨, etc. This post is not meant to offend anyone and is said with our kindest but most honest intentions🐾🐾
I’m going to start here by saying we had no idea, at all, zip zero nada, that Hope’s story would spread how it has. We are a small town dog rescue and help neglected dogs every day. We didn’t know Hope would grab this many hearts but of course from the outside looking in, we can see how tragic her story is!! A kick to the jaw and a bullet to the eye. It sounds painful and it definitely was. She’s on a cocktail of medications. One thing Scooter’s Underdogs Rescue does NOT deal with is PAIN and suffering. We will do any and everything to prevent the suffering of any animal.
Unfortunately we can’t post much about her unless people want to jeopardize her case. We are really busy with Hope. Let’s talk about with what.
-Brandy made 17 (literally) phone calls yesterday to veterinary clinics from Charlotte to Knoxville to Greenville, SC.
-The specialist we wanted to see for Hope’s jaw (UT) is not in the office until the middle of October. So we had to regroup
-She will not be able to have one surgery that fixes her eye and jaw at once, it will need to be two surgeries. Then she needs spayed eventually. So, 3 surgeries.
-Ballpark estimates for her jaw surgery are $4,000 to $7,000. We are trying to figure out where on Earth that money will come from.
-There is not one single veterinarian or vet tech who looks at Hope’s case file, and suggests she need immediate surgery. Believe me, we want a quick fix too. This is not possible. Let’s explain why.
-Trying to simplify here: there is not much “jaw bone” for a jaw plate to connect to. Her age is on her side because she may be able to grow new bone for the plate to connect to. By the
