K9 Nose Work Training Camp Update!

2016 Oregon K9 Nose Work Training Camp
Dates: Thursday, June 23, 2016 – Tuesday AM, June 28, 2016
Location: Canby Grove Christian Center in Canby, OR.

About Camp
This four full day K9 Nose Work® Training Camp is designed to enhance the understanding of K9 Nose Work®, to develop the skills necessary to compete in the sport of K9 Nose Work®, and to provide a model for effective instruction for current and future nose work instructors.
This all-inclusive sleepover camp is open to all appropriate dog and handler teams as well as auditors. We will concentrate on the elements necessary to succeed at the sport and the application of K9 Nose Work® for recreation and increasing a dog’s confidence regardless of interest in competition.

Instructing Staff
Our camp instructing staff are all Certified Nose Work Instructors and are competent, skilled teachers that are also actively involved in many areas of K9 Nose Work® - training, competition, judging and/or officiating, and instruction.

Auditors – 10 more auditing spots remain
Camp is a great way for future K9 Nose Work® instructors to learn about the activity. Whether you want to start classes for fun, competition, shelter dog enrichment, or as part of a behavior modification protocol, participating as an auditor or with your own dog will provide a solid foundation you can take home and apply. Learn from some of the world’s most skilled and experienced instructors, including the founders of the sport.

Working Dogs – full, but we need a healthy waitlist.
Working spots are full, but we need to create a waitlist in case of cancellations or absentees. Check out the website for waitlist information.
We are happy to provide instruction for dogs at different levels of nose work training. We welcome dogs new to birch odor through NW3 Elite competition.
You can attend camp as an auditor and be placed on the working spot waitlist at the same time.

2016 OREGON K9 NOSE WORK® TRAINING CAMP

2016 Oregon K9NW Camp dates:
Campers will arrive either Thursday, June 23, 2016 or Friday, June 24, 2016 (Start date will be confirmed in 2 weeks).
Campers leave Tuesday AM, June 28, 2016 if not attending the optional Education Day
Education Day attendees leave Wednesday AM, June 29, 2016

2016 Oregon Camp Notes:

· 2014 Oregon K9NW returning campers will be notified by e-mail and have a one week priority registration period. When the priority registration period ends, camp registration will open approximately one week later for everyone one who did not attend the 2014 Oregon Camp. We will announce the date for general registration one week before general registration opens.
· Only mildly reactive dogs that are well managed will be accepted at camp. Search areas will be in close proximity to each other, housing, and parking. The general public, including children, will be sharing space at camp. The employees, their families and pets live on the property in close proximity to the search and housing areas. Dogs with human reactivity are not suitable for Camp.
· Please consider your dog’s ability to function in community housing. In 2015, we had an unusually high number of dogs that struggled with the housing environment at camp. Consider your dog’s health and mental stress levels before registering for community housing (or Camp). You may wish to consider attending camp as a commuter to minimize the impact on your dog’s well-being.
· Housing is limited on the property and will fill on a first come, first serve basis. The rest of the campers will be commuting from area hotels.
· The Intro to Nose Work and Intro to Odor seminars will no longer be offered at K9NW Training Camps. Please contact the NACSW™ directly for information on those seminars.


Full details about camp, including tuition fees, will be posted on the Dogs of Course website within 2 weeks. Please take the time to read ALL the information before registration opens so that you are familiar and comfortable with the guidelines and refund policies.
