Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center initiated a "pay it forward" movement within the rescue community following the tragic loss of Mikayla Raines, a dedicated wildlife rehabber and the founder of Saveafox Corporation. This movement honors Mikayla's beautiful & inspiring dedication and is a testament to the heartfelt impact Mikayla had on so many lives, both human and animal. Her tragic passing, after years of struggling with online bullying, left a deep void for many, but her spirit of compassion lives on. By continuing to "pay it forward," we honor Mikayla’s mission and the mission of Pug Rescue of Florida and Georgia.

Pug Rescue of Florida and Georgia tirelessly works to save, rehabilitate, and rehome pugs in need. Their commitment provides a second chance for countless dogs, Pugs specifically, reflecting the profound effect one person's dedication can have. We personally have seen the challenging cases Pug Rescue of Fl & Ga takes on; Some young and some very old with years of neglect. They along with their vets, and unwavering, compassionate fosters, simply put… Work absolute MIRACLES! The love and effort put into these beautiful but often broken creatures creates such an amazing, heartwarming transformation. Their love heals. Their love gives these wonderful dogs a second chance, a better life, and it gives many a chance and the honor of loving these wonderful dogs. Thank you Pug Rescue of Florida and Georgia!!! What you do for these deserving souls is absolutely priceless.💕

We have 11 semi-feral cats who need a special place to call home. While they came to us a bit too old to fully tame, they are well-accustomed to humans and are very gentle — never attempting to scratch or bite. These are not aggressive cats at all! Just very timid and cautious of human interaction. These easy-going felines love to play and lounge too; they simply prefer no petting. No touchy! 😆

It's a common misconception that feral cats aren't social. Just like their domesticated counterparts, they thrive in small families. Very social! That's why we highly recommend & require adopting at least two together, allowing them the comfort and security of companionship. Every creature deserves our respect and kindness, and these semi-feral beauties are no exception!❤️

We're at capacity and desperately need to find these timid darlings a quiet and safe place to call their own. They would be perfect for a safe barn, garage, screened porch, or even a craft/paint workshop! Beyond their charming personalities, these cats are excellent for natural rodent control. Plus, their gentle nature with humans means you can feel at ease even with kids around. In time, some may allow you to pet them; that will take a lot of time and patience.

Concerned about fleas or worms? You can easily mix liquid or crushed pill de-wormer/de-flea medicine into their food monthly. Happy and healthy, with no worries about buggy pests around your home.

We're here to make the transition smooth. We'll help transport them to your property and guide you through the acclimation process to their new environment.🙂

Best laid plans of kittens and rescue…🐈‍⬛🐁

Nugget was originally set to transfer to another rescue to join other kittens, as our focus here is on our current adult cats, and we CANNOT take in new intakes. However, Nugget quickly became a social media sensation, charming his way into the hearts of many and sparking significant adoption interest! He even had a foster-to-adopt home lined up, but alas, their plans fell short last minute. But fear not, this just means Nugget has even more exciting plans and adventures ahead of him! He's patiently waiting for his perfect forever home, all while having the time of his life with his doting Papa Pip.

Ready for a whole lotta joy in a tiny package? Meet Nugget, the most spirited, independent, and curious little guy you'll ever meet! Born on April 18, 2025, this little survivor is now a healthy, happy, and super playful kitten ready to find his forever home. We welcomed Nugget into our care when he was just 2.5 weeks old and battling a kitty cold and pneumonia. He's a true fighter, and thanks to round-the-clock care, he's now thriving!

Nugget is a total ball of joy who loves to play and fills every room with his happy trills, especially when he's got the zoomies! He's always observing and learning, taking in everything around him. What an adamant toe tickler and bug-chaser enthusiast!😆 He needs a home with an active playmate, whether it's another cat or a dog. When playtime is over, he loves to cuddle up in bed, though watch out for those playful nibbles when he's feeling feisty! Nugget is best friends with the dog who helped take care of him, so he's already a pro at living with canine companions. That’s why playful nibbles are his love language.🤩 He’s down to get silly and rowdy but remains adorable all the while!

Hold the phone, paws for applause! 🐾 Remember Tabitha, our sweet senior gal who battled severe stomatitis? Well, she's officially got a brand new smile (or lack thereof, more accurately)! This morning, she had her remaining 15 teeth extracted!😮 OUCH indeed, but trust us, she’s going to feel fantastic very soon.

Even after her previous top dental extraction a few months ago, Tabitha was still wrestling with painful inflammation flare-ups. So, early this morning, we whisked her away from her loving adopter (who's beyond grateful!) for her big dental adventure. Tabitha was a bit groggy from the anesthesia, but as you can see from her new pics, her mug is looking quite... streamlined! Look mom, no teeth!😆🦷 And don't worry, a little bloody drool is totally normal after such a major surgery!

We drove her the hour back home to her mom and brother Winston, and it was clear she was thrilled to be back. Tabitha immediately settled in and, true to form, was ready for dinner (a little sloppy with her eating etiquette, but hey, no judgment here!)😅🩷. The best part? We then saw her retreat to her room and groom her face after her slightly messy meal – a huge improvement already and a sign she's feeling so much better!

Tabitha's Journey: From Abandoned to Adored: Tabitha and her brother Winston have certainly been on a journey! Found abandoned in an apartment and then surrendered to a kill shelter, their luck turned when we took them in. Last December, they were adopted together, bringing immense joy and comfort to their mom (a diabetic, who says they instinctively lie on her during health spells!). Such love and devotion is a two-way street in this home; their mom’s love for them is just as immense. Seeing them thrive makes every effort worth it.

And that was just some of our day! A massive thank you to everyone for your shares, likes, and unwavering support. We truly couldn't make these happy endings happen without you! ❤️

It's Raining Kittens!🌧🐈‍⬛

We're bursting with cuteness, but we're also at capacity! As much as we wish we could, we cannot take in any more cats or kittens at this time. Our rescue is closed for intake. However, we're actively helping where we can, and that includes assisting our amazing adopters!

Recently, a wonderful previous adopter (⭐️located Dalton, Ga⭐️) reached out to us with an urgent situation. A pregnant mama cat was abandoned at their home and gave birth to five adorable kittens! Our generous adopter is keeping the mama and one of her kittens, and they've already got spay appointments booked for both — responsible pet ownership at its finest!💕

This leaves four precious kittens who need loving forever homes. They’re 10 weeks old, and their temporary guardians describe them as loving, and while a little timid at first, they warm up quickly to become sweet snugglers!

Let's help these little ones find their purr-fect families:
Orange Females (2): These two are best friends with beautiful personalities! The orange tabby w/white is a bit shy but incredibly sweet, and despite being the firstborn, she's the runt of the litter. Precious!

Tortie Female (1): This girly is bubbly & bouncy – full of playful energy, so sweet, and very loving!

Solid Black Male (1): He's an energetic, outgoing goofball who loves to snuggle. Dashing!

Double the Love, Double the Luck: Meet Derry & Mayberry! (Judging You Softly Edition)😆

Get ready to fall head over paws for Derry and Mayberry, a bonded pair of sleek mini-panthers who are ready to steal your heart! These two are absolutely devoted to each other, finding comfort and confidence in their sibling bond. While they might be a little shy with new faces and in busy environments, give them a calm, loving space, and their gentle, curious, and affectionate personalities will truly blossom. As their photos clearly show, they can also give quite the discerning look if the treat delivery service is a little slow – those eyes miss nothing!🤩

First up, the effortlessly regal and undeniably handsome Derry! We're still baffled by how this gentle boy manages to look so distinguished while lounging on a crinkle carrot toy, but his piercing gaze and amazing peepers certainly do the trick. This sweet, shy mini-panther just wants gentle pets and loving words. While being picked up isn't his favorite, a warm lap is an instant invitation for cuddles (and perhaps a more timely treat delivery, if those looks are anything to go by!).

And then there's his delightful sister, Mayberry! Don't let her dainty first appearance fool you; this girl is fully charged with mischief and personality. Tall shelves? No problem for Mayberry! She'll find a way to the top. We adore every one of her cute antics, especially when she follows them with her famous head tilt as if asking, "Ohhh, whoooo me?" She's tiny but mighty, a true mini-panther who, after a little time to adjust, will completely steal your heart (and maybe judge your treat-dispensing speed too!).

As bonded black cats, Derry and Mayberry unfortunately face longer waits for their forever homes, but they offer double the purrs, double the cuddles, and double the love. They are looking for a patient, calm home to continue to thrive together and perhaps offer their insightful commentary on your daily routines.
