⚠️Please join us in welcoming Steven Hicks, DVM, to the Murray Ridge Animal Clinic family!
Dr. Hicks graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995 and has dedicated his career to providing exceptional care while building lasting relationships with pets and their families.
His passion for veterinary medicine began early. After experiencing the illness and loss of his beloved St. Bernard in seventh grade, he knew he wanted to become a veterinarian. That dream took another step forward in ninth grade when he was selected to participate in a brand-new mentorship program at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital. That experience solidified his career path.
Throughout his career, Dr. Hicks has developed a special love for general practice medicine and client education. He believes that informed pet owners make the best partners in their pets' care. One of his guiding philosophies is: "Provide everything needed for the pet, but only what that pet needs." This thoughtful, individualized approach has earned the trust of countless families over the years.
After many successful years as the owner of Akron Medina Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Hicks is excited to bring his experience, knowledge, and compassionate care to Murray Ridge Animal Clinic.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Hicks enjoys spending time with his wife of 29 years, Tracy, their sons Tyler and Kyle, and his granddaughter. He is also happy to have his brother nearby to spend time with. He and Tracy share their home with Toby, a remarkable 18-year-old cat. You may also notice the portrait in the background: that’s Cisco, a beloved member of the family proudly carrying his favorite toy.
An avid fisherman, Dr. Hicks can often be found on the water pursuing his favorite hobby—and if you ask him, he may even tell you the incredible story of the octopus he once caught!
Interestingly, Dr. Hicks was once offered a scholarship to a prestigious art school in Pennsylvania. While art was a talent he cherished, he ultimately followed his heart into veterinary medicine—a decision that has benefited thousands of pets and their families and now us!
