It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic loss of a Barkside Bay pup. Mamu, a joyful and energetic Shiloh Shepherd, landed wrong while jumping out of her owner’s Jeep, leading to injuries that proved too severe to overcome.

Mamu was more than just a pet; she was a best friend, adventure partner, and a source of unconditional love and joy. Her sudden passing has left her owner, Andrew, and all who knew her in deep grief. The emotional toll is immense, and her owner faces significant financial burdens due to emergency veterinary costs and final arrangements.

In this difficult time, we are reaching out to our community for support. Our friends at Scholars in Collars Academy, have created a GoFundMe campaign to help alleviate the financial strain for Andrew. Your contributions will go directly towards covering the veterinary bills and associated expenses, allowing him to focus on healing from this profound loss without the added worry of financial hardship.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. If you are unable to contribute financially, we ask that you please share this campaign with others. Your kindness and support during this heartbreaking time mean the world to Andrew and those of us who have been touched by Mamu.

Barkside Bay offers free trail explorations to dogs awaiting adoption at the Erie Humane Society, giving them a chance to stretch their legs, sniff new scents, and show off their unique personalities.

Take Lola and Mushu, for example. These two furry adventurers recently set out on separate hikes, each one a delightful escapade. Lola, with her curious nose and a flair for the camera, took to the trails of Asbury Woods. She sniffed every nook and cranny, posed like a pro for photos, and charmed everyone with her joyful energy. Her adventure made it clear: Lola was ready for a loving home, and it wasn’t long before she found one!

Meanwhile, Mushu made waves—literally—on her beachside hike at Presque Isle State Park, PA. With a trusty stick in her mouth and a spring in her step, she explored the sandy shores, dipping her paws in the water and embracing the surf. Mushu’s beach day was a splashy success, showing off her playful, water-loving spirit. Like Lola, Mushu quickly found her forever family after her adventure.

While Lola and Mushu have found their homes, there are many more pets at the Erie Humane Society waiting for their own chance at love and happiness. Thanks to the creative partnership, these pets are getting their moment in the sun—quite literally—helping them find families who will cherish them forever. So, if you’re looking for a furry friend, remember there are plenty of adventurous spirits just like Lola and Mushu waiting for you!

Shelter dogs living their best lives with Barkside Bay! 🐾

Tilly, the adventurous Australian Shepherd mix, had a blast at the beach, soaking up the sun and people-watching. Meanwhile, Jackson and Duke, the playful Pitbull mixes, unleashed their energy in a spacious fenced-in area, enjoying a game of wrestle and chase with sticks. FatBoy went along with Jackson and Duke, but we are happy to report that he found his forever family!

April was National Active Dog Month, and Barkside Bay ended the month with an incredible 5,130 minutes of walking with our furry friends! That’s roughly 270 MILES, more than Erie to Pittsburgh and back, of wagging tails and walking paws in just one month! 🐶🙌🏼

At Barkside Bay, we're passionate about providing top-notch care and adventures for our furry friends, and now we're teaming up with the Erie Humane Society to make an even bigger impact for our community and the lives of our shelter pets.

With this partnership, we'll be working closely with the shelter to provide regular Dog Walks and Trail Explorations for their pups awaiting adoption.
