Voiceless Moments Dog Sanctuary

Voiceless Moments Dog Sanctuary We specialize in medically disabled and senior dogs. We provide all necessary medical care and provide a loving environment until the end of their days.

Due to the rising population of stray and abandoned dogs, we do help the community in taking small dogs under 25 lbs in on a case by case basis. There must be a foster available to house a larger dog. If an owner cannot be located, we will vet and adopt out (if they don’t meet the sanctuary criteria to stay).

We have received a $500 grant from Athletes For Animals to start off our Spay/Neuter Program for this year. We do plan to write for more grants to support this program so that in the future we can help more individuals.

Our service area includes Stewart and Houston Counties, however, at this time we will only be providing services for this program to HOUSTON COUNTY RESIDENTS ONLY! This is due to the limited funding and the fact that Houston County residents do not have a set program for spay/neuter funding and these residents are in desperate need of getting their animals spayed/neutered to keep from having unwanted litters. This will be a first come, first serve service. We will not begin handing out vouchers for spay/neuters until January 13th, 2025. This will give us time to contact local and near facilities to see which will be the best to work with.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS PROGRAM
1. You must have a vehicle or some mode of transportation to get your pet to the appointment.
2. Since funds are limited, there is a one animal restriction. This means that we will only provide funding for 1 pet per household. This includes multiple family households at this time.
3. We will make the appointment and correspond with you and facility. Depending on the facility that we choose to work with, your schedule will be kept in mind to some extent.
4. Once the appointment is made, if you cannot keep the appointment and do not call or show up, your voucher will no longer be valid, and you will be denied services in the future. Whomever we choose to work with for our spay/neuter program is an asset and their time is valuable, we must respect that.

We will announce when we begin to make appointments and give out vouchers. Please wait for that announcement before contacting us. We will not make a list or hold a spot.

It is a sad day here at the sanctuary. Although we are happy to see them, Annabelle and Cocoa have come back to us. This is no fault of their own. The adopter's work schedule changed to include long hours. They felt that Annabelle and Cocoa had too much puppy in them to be crated all day. So, with heavy hearts, they returned Annabelle and Cocoa in the hopes that someone who could spend more time with them would adopt them.

Annabelle and Cocoa came to us July 2024. Their previous owner decided he did not want to deal with them and took them across town and dumped them down a dead-end road by the river. We were able to back track them to their previous owner and he was prosecuted.

Fast forward to today. Both Annabelle and Cocoa are around 14 months old. They are litter mates that have spent their entire lives with each other. We are hoping to find a home that will adopt them together as they are very bonded to one another. Annabelle is spayed and Cocoa is neutered. Annabelle is the chocolate brindle and Cocoa is the rust brindle. They are both microchipped. They have so much love to give. They both are so sweet. A fenced in yard is a must. They love to get outside and run their puppy energy off. They both love the hard chew bones and giving kisses and loving to their humans.

We will be allowing them to adjust to this change, as any moving situation for an animal, no matter if they already know the individuals taking them, is traumatic and stressful.

In our previous post about Diesel we stated that we were going to take applications until the second week of January. We have had such an outpour of applications for him that we have had to rethink our policies. From now on we will stop accepting applications after 50 individuals have applied. While we had several applicants that were approved to adopt from us, only one family was chosen to take Diesel home. We look for several criteria to be met to ensure the proper fit in the home that is chosen. We thank all that applied and urge every individual to watch our website, page, or PetFinder profile to view dogs that are new to our organization and are up for adoption. Diesel will be staying with us until the third week of January to complete his training class, but he is no longer available for adoption. We have gone through all the application and a family has been chosen to adopt Diesel.

Today we bring you a Christmas story, not from our own rescue, but from Stewart County Faithful Friends Animal Rescue. Their mission is much like ours in trying to save as many animals as they can. Poppy was found locked in a crate and left on the side of the road. She was so skittish of human contact when she first came to their rescue. She warmed up to her caretakers and began to realize that not all humans were like her abandoners. Fast forward to a few days ago… Ray White brought Poppy into his home and heart. Ray and his wife are gentle loving souls and Poppy couldn’t have found a better furever home. Congratulations Poppy and new family, and Merry Christmas.

We have lost a tremendous woman in the rescuing community. She has always put the needs of animals before her own. Now she rests with the others, helping to manage the ones that cross the rainbow bridge from here on out. We will be taking food donations for her dog rescue, Sagley’s Biker Bully Farm. Rest easy Lisa Sagley. We will take it from here. You can drop off food donations at

The Animal Clinic of Stewart County
533 Hwy 79
Dover, TN 37058

You may also call 931-516-9418 and we will pick it up if you cannot get there. Please keep Lisa’s family and precious fur babies in your hearts and prayers.

We had our 1st Annual Santa Photo Shoot this past Tuesday. It was a hoot (and quite a few barks). We would like to give a special thank you to our Santa, Raymond White. We did not advertise to the public this year because we didn’t have a large enough venue for a big crowd. We invited some of our sister rescues. The photos turned out great. We have enclosed some of the bloopers as well. Next year we plan on partnering with a local business in Erin to do public pet Santa photos. We will announce a time come next year. For now enjoy all the sanctuary and rescue dogs photos. Please see our website for the adoptables. There is only one adoptable that could make it, the others are in foster homes.

We lost two of our cherished members this year. Both Paco and Max crossed the rainbow 🌈 bridge in April. We miss you both terribly, but know that you are in pain no longer. We made some great memories with them both, and will cherish them forever.

We believe in full transparency between our rescue and the public. Briefly we would like to explain our adoption process. We have made posts before, but will be putting this post in the featured section of our page so that it can be referenced in the future.

WE ARE NOT A FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE RESCUE. WE ACCEPT SEVERAL APPLICATIONS DURING A CERTAIN TIME PERIOD, AND THE BEST FIT IS CHOSEN.

The first step is to fill out an application. FILLING OUT AN APPLICATION DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU ARE GUARANTEED ADOPTION OF THE DOG IN QUESTION.
To fill out an application go to our website at www.voicelessmomentsdogsanctuary.com
Your application will be reviewed and all the information will be verified. This means that we will call the references and check with your veterinary clinic to ensure that your current animals are up to date on vaccinations. If this information cannot be verified your application will be denied. Please call your vet and give them permission to talk to us.

A phone interview will happen. We will call you and go over your application with you and ask any questions we may have. You will be given the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. ONCE AGAIN, THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE DOG IN QUESTION IS YOURS.

Next we may ask to set up a home visit or a virtual visit to see the areas designated for the dog.

IF AFTER THESE STEPS THE APPLICATION IS APPROVED, IT IS VOTED ON BY OUR BOARD ALONG WITH THE OTHER APPLICATIONS TO CHOSE THE BEST FIT.

Why do we do this long process? We do this to ensure that our dogs are going to the best fit for their unique situation. We want our adoptions to last. We will, if needed, take any of our dogs back, but we try to choose a home that never chooses to do so. The more a dog changes environments, the more traumatizing their world becomes. Some dogs take it easier than others, but it still affects the dog negatively. We do not want this, so we try to make sure through our adoption process that a proper, permanent fit is made.

At Voiceless Moments Dog Sanctuary we help care for disabled, sick, and dying small dogs. We plan on writing for grants so that we can aid the public in caring for their sick animals in the hopes of keeping them at home.
