It’s beginning to look a lot like…November? 🌲🌨️
This handsome fella is Cooper, the newest edition to the Paws + Play Pups’ family! 🦮
Cooper grew up with lots of acreage to stretch his legs and run free. Now that he lives in the suburbs, he’s still learning how leashes work. When I met him a few weeks ago, he was a strong believer that arms DO NOT belong in their sockets. 💪😅 After a couple of weeks of patience, rewards for checking in, a new front attachment harness, and learning that yanking harder on the leash will not get him where we wants to go, he’s getting the hang of this whole “leash” thing! (His new nickname is Super Duper Cooper btw) 💙

Muggsy was overjoyed to have a new pal to zoom around the fields with this morning! There’s just the right amount of legs between these two 😂 Kratos’ legs are so much longer, he makes Muggsy out of focus in their pictures together!

This lil guy took his first training field trip today! We worked on the art of being chill around strangers (both human and canine) in novel environments and polite greetings with people. We had a great time exploring the shop and beautiful walking paths! 💚

We could not be happier to welcome Lexie back to camp. This is such a special group; I have trained with each of these pups individually and they’ve all been a part of my camp since they were little puppies. It’s such a dream to bring this crew together, I can’t wait for more adventures together. Glad to have you back, Lex! We missed you this summer! 🥰

Cabot and Tulsi are a classic case of how opposites attract! 🧲❤️
Tulsi has two speeds, laying in the grass or sprinting circles around us. And she definitely takes the bull-in-a-china-shop approach to initiating play with her pal. 😂
While Cabot typically prefers to stick by my side (in case a treat might fall into his mouth 😋) and tends to be more intentional about when/how he plays; sure, he’ll play wrestle with you, but it has to be on his terms! Despite their differences, these two have a blast every time we go out together!

Okay, so Delila and Rudy might have missed the memo that they’re part of the Friday Mellow Mutts crew 🤣 I was happily surprised to watch these two become fast friends and be anything but “mellow” together on this morning’s hike!
I think I’m going to have to rename this group to something more fitting. Let me know if anyone has ideas for a catchy title for these petite but playful pups! 🤔

If you asked me a couple months ago which campers would become besties, I probably wouldn’t have guessed Muggsy and Nacho. Now these quirky guys are like two peas in a pod! 🫛 Muggsy is helping teach Nacho some manners while Nacho is great at reminding Muggs to let loose and have fun! 💚

Fergus has his first Play + Train Day Trip yesterday! 🎉
This big guy has sooo much love to give, but hasn’t quite mastered the art of a polite greeting with other dogs he meets in walks. Before we introduce a “Go say hi” cue, we are practicing remaining calm when we pass other dogs on leash.

We had a blast training and playing at the waterfront then escaped the rain at where he got lots of well-deserved pets and attention!

As some of you know, Fergus and I go way back 🥰 Swipe to see lil baby Ferg from 2 years ago!

Thanks for being my star student, constant companion, cuddle buddy, and comic relief over the past two weeks. Though classes were hard and days were long, but you made it easy.
I am so lucky to have been paired with you. You’ll make someone a fantastic service dog (or facility/therapy dog or companion) someday soon. I’ll miss you, girl! 🐕‍🦺

Over the past couple of weeks Erin and I have completed courses in mobility and psychiatric service dog tasks, therapy dog skills, scentwork, and agility. She was the perfect partner! Just one more course and I’ll be on my way home to the east coast next week!
This time has been priceless and it’s bittersweet to be coming to the end of the final semester of this program. I am grateful to have gained this knowledge and hands-on experience here. ♥️
