About 6 weeks ago a man who purchased a cream puppy from me 11 months ago came to the gate insisting that we take Josie back, he said she is difficult, they can't pet her, groom her and is too rough with his daughters. I told him we are dog rich and cannot take another dog that we did not raise. He left, I called him later, he wanted me to take her for two weeks (yea sure) and train her, I told him I was not a professional trainer, so I could not do that and perhaps he should take her to a professional trainer that could teach him and Josie how to behave. He said he would. A few weeks passed and he contacted me again and said he is at his wits end and could not keep her. I contacted a friend, and she agreed to have a meet and greet with her family and Josie, which went well this was around mid-August, at the end of the visit my friend told him she would take her, but he declined because he did not bring her bed, food bowls and toys. He said that he would give her the dog at the end of the month, when that time came, she asked if I had heard from him, I responded with no, so I called him, he told me he had changed his mind, they loved her too much and were going to keep her after all. I contact my friend she was disappoint because we both felt Josie deserved better. Well, let us fast forward to last night at 11 pm, my son heard a car come down the driveway, he did not think much about it, however when he left for work this morning, he found Josie tied to a fence post on the other side of our gate, with a bag of chicken jerky, a tiny bed, a small bowl the size of a measuring cup and no toys at all, nothing. My son called me at my usually up time this am to let me know what had transpired. Tony and I got Josie in the yard, she was a shaking, frightened, tail down and a little growly, she did not bite us, we took our time with her, she finally approached us let and let us pet her, but she has not eaten, she refuses food, even though it is available to her. She is not growling anymore and has calmed down. Tony and I erected a fence to keep the front yard dogs from getting to her. She is safe, can go in the shop where we put a nice dog bed, food and a fresh bowl of water. We are planning on rehoming her but not until she calms down and is more approachable.
