They will grow to be 28 to 35 pounds. All puppies come up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, have a 2 year health guarantee, have begun crate training and are using a doggy door to do their business. Bobby was so excited for yesterday, September 18th to come! Bobby is a very curious lady… basically she is kind of nosy! She always is snooping around, sticking her nose in places… and sometimes it doesn’t belong there. She just likes to be a girl in the know!
She had scheduled herself an appointment with her reproductive vet for September 18th, for a pregnancy radiograph. She would be 1 day over 8 weeks pregnant, so it is safe to do a radiograph. The reason she wanted to have one done was for 2 reasons. The first was to let her know how many puppies she would be delivering! The ultrasound at 3 weeks can help, but the radiograph is much more accurate! She has been dying to know how many booties she needed to knit! The second reason is so she can find out if any puppies are too big for her to deliver naturally. It doesn’t happen often, but a puppy can be too big. She would much rather plan for a c-section than have to rush in for one at the last minute.
That is a crowded tummy. Bobby has been laying around most of the time these days. You can see why! How many did you count in the first picture?
In this next picture, Bobby’s reproductive vet helped Bobby out. She was having a crazy time trying to count all of them! She marked the head with a little circle and the backbone with a line. Those puppies were going every which way! How many puppies do you count now?
Did you count 11??? Were you right the first time? Bobby was a bit stunned herself.
Bobby is due on Tuesday, September 24th. Dogs usually have their puppies within 2 days of their due date. With so many puppies, I doubt whether Bobby will wait until Tuesday to have her puppies. I am clearing my schedule for Sunday or Monday!
