Did you hear about the new upper respiratory illness that is going around?
We have been monitoring this since mid-summer and are glad to see an increased awareness, and precautions being taken by pet owners and pet professionals.
All of our regular safeguards are still in place (ex; sanitizing surfaces, not seeing clients displaying symptoms of illness).
This new URI, and other varieties, are airborne. Meaning, bringing your dog into an area, where other dogs frequent, there is a risk of transmission.
Please keep this in mind as you plan grooming/veterinary/boarding/etc appointments.

Are you a dog groomer? Do you know a dog groomer? Do you know someone that knows someone that knows a groomer?! Well let them know that we are hiring!
This position is for a pet groomer, with at least one year of grooming experience.
Our top priority is the safety and wellbeing of the dogs in our care, as well as that of our groomers. Followed closely by customer satisfaction (We have great clients, who understand that their dogs come first!). Safe and kind handling of pets is a must.
With one of our sweet young groomers flying the coop, and a lengthy wait list, we’ve got a large number of dogs ready to book.

❄️Winter Weather Policy🌨️:
When it comes to driving in inclement weather conditions, we leave the decision making up to each individual groomer. If the roads are snowy/icy, and they do not feel safe or are unable to drive, your groomer will reach out through our text messaging app. Your services will be rescheduled to the soonest available time.
Walk-in nail trims are subject to cancellation, if driving conditions are poor. Please call before arriving.

Part-Time Bather Position

Murphy’s Paw Pet Grooming is a small, busy, locally-owned grooming salon located in the Churchill area of Eugene. We have been providing high-quality pet grooming services at our current location for the past four years.

We are looking for an additional bather to help keep up with the high demand for our services, including an ever-growing waitlist for new clients.

We emphasize quality grooming, and provide a good experience to both the pets and their humans who come to our shop. All employees must be kind and competent in their handling of the dogs and cats in our care, at all times.

Qualifications: Basic competency and understanding of canine behavior and body language; ability to work with dogs and cats of all sizes and varying temperaments; willingness to learn specialty techniques and provide groomers with a fully prepped coat.

Job Duties: Bathe dogs to groomer’s specifications, including identifying different canine coat types and skin sensitivities; ability to learn proper use of many shampoos, conditioners, and finishing sprays; use a high velocity dryer to separate matts and tangles; fluff dry and straighten coat; keep a watchful eye on all dogs in the bathing room at all times. Responsible for all cleaning duties related to the bathing room.

Hours and Schedule: After the training period, this position offers flexible scheduling that could work around a second job, schooling, or childcare needs, with advanced notice.

Pay: $12.75 per hour. This is a W-2 position.

Murphy's Paw is hiring! Our current demand for services is outstripping the availability of our grooming team, so we are opening up interviews for both an experienced groomer and a bather. The grooming position can be full or part time, the bather position will be part time.

We have four designated walk-in nail trimming times available throughout the week. Show up during any one of these windows, and we will trim your dog's nails.
Clipping is $10, a clip and file is $15.

Tuesday. 8:30am - 9:30am
Wednesday. 8:00am - 9:00am
Friday. 10:00am - 11:00an
*Sunday. 8:00am - 9:00am

*UPDATE! STARTING THE FIRST WEEKEND IN FEBRUARY,

Part 2, caring for senior dogs. Being aware of the mental and physical limitations of your old dog is one thing. Reminding yourself to extend patience and kindness when you step on a cold turd in the middle of the night is another. Getting frustrated, angry, or overwhelmed is honestly a part of this journey. Just do your best to not put those emotions onto you old dog.

This is the first video in a series I’m making about senior pet care. Learning the early signs of doggie dementia, or Canine Cognitive Dysfunction (I’ve also heard it called canine cognitive disorder/decline), is a great first step in helping your aging dog. Many veterinarians suspect CCD is widely under diagnosed. Even so, according to a 2013 study, up to 60% of dogs 11 and older have some degree of CCD. With advances in veterinary care, dogs are living longer than ever, and CCD is likely going to be even more common. Check the comments for a list of the most common signs and what that may look like in your pet.
