They had a blast hanging out with one of our puppy families today and exploring outside. Next up is an indoor expansion for more shenanigans.
Scheduling vet visit, volhard testing, barn hunt introduction, car rides and socializing is all on the to do list!

Since we’re all patiently waiting for the individual photos to announce names and the litter theme - Let’s talk about health, not dog or puppy health but breeder health. It is a round the clock job to care for puppies especially during the critical stage and I’ll be the first to admit I struggle with asking for help. I’m a perfectionist and worrywart extraordinaire well before the puppies even arrive. I have very high expectations of myself and honestly they’re not very fair to myself, let alone if I was to ask someone to come help regularly. It takes a lot out of me raising each litter to the standards I’ve set and while I wouldn’t change it for the world, I do realize I should take better care of personal (already compromised) health. So I hold myself accountable with lots of water, rest (as much as I can at least), nutritious food and knowing my limits on what I’m able to do outside of raising these puppies. Do I over extend myself sometimes? Absolutely but 99% of the time it’s for all the other dogs in the house or volunteering with our local shows. So worth every migraine, nerve pain episode and dizzy spell.
At the end of the day don’t forget to drink water!

As we all look forward to Owyn’s third litter arriving next week, I find myself looking back at her first litter. Gemini Golden Retrievers gave us a huge opportunity by allowing us to breed to Akiva which pushed up the timeline for adding better, more correct, structure to our line. Forever grateful to GGRs and even more excited for this litter’s sire, Jake, from Gemini Goldens (sister program to GGRs). He has it all with titling, health, structure, temperament, drive, workability and coat. He compliments Owyn’s faults and will give us more bone just like Akiva did. Which is not surprising as they are very similarly bred!

It’s been almost a year since Zodi (formerly Stryder) was returned to us. He stayed with us for evaluation and decompression prior to being advertised as available to an approved home. Immediately .service.corgi reached out and we both felt like he was the perfect fit. Due to Hawaii’s strict import laws Zodi got to stay for a few extra months, which allowed us time to title and start his health testing. He has been absolutely THRIVING with Sara and her pack since leaving for Hawaii. Today we got the most incredible update on his final health testing - EXCELLENT hips, NORMAL elbows, NORMAL eyes & NORMAL heart. It’s been a journey but it’s just beginning for this team, he has so much more to give as an AMAZING SD. Can’t wait to see what they can accomplish together now that he has been cleared for mobility!

Owyn throwing us all for a loop by ovulating later in her heat cycle than she ever has previously. Tuesday (day 14 of her cycle) morning we took Owyn in for a test after the long weekend and the vet’s machine ended up breaking just prior to the vet getting the results so we made the decide to breed her to be safe. However when we got the results back on Wednesday morning she was only at an 8. So we went back Thursday for a final progesterone recheck and FINALLY Owyn’s progesterone level hit 19 (perfect range to be bred). So she was bred today (day 17 of her cycle) again via side by side AI. We are expecting her to whelp Aug 1st, 2024 but she could go as early as July 28th.
We are so excited for this pairing and we do have availability!

Sunday shenanigans
From driven off the bat to building the drive so proud of my girls Eostre and Ender for both getting PBs last night! Eostre tan 7.85secs and Ender cut her time by more than half! Hoping with some more work Ender will get to 8ish seconds or less like the rest of the crew!
