What a difference a few months makes! Remember how he wouldn't let us touch him? Just look at him now! It's all I can do to sit down before he's ready to put his head on my lap for scritches and cuddles. He lets me put ointment in both his eyes several times a day and purrs the whole time. I just love this great big bear of a cat!

Have you noticed how he's starting to squint a little? Once we checked his dental work off the list, his eyes started bothering him. This poor guy just can't seem to catch a break and be comfortable! Now he needs another surgery to correct the weird way his eyelids are curling into his eyes. Best way to describe it - feels like constantly having an eyelash stuck on your eyeball.

Coming up on this past Christmas, we hadn't seen him in over a month and feared the worst. When he appeared again, he had a terrible upper respiratory infection and we knew he wouldn't make it without intervention. When we moved in, we brought several cats of our own. It wasn't long before the neighborhood cats began taking shelter on our porch. We welcomed them, understanding that the shelters are already overcrowded and seeing the need for a safe place where they could find refuge, get food and veterinary care, and be kept out of harm's way. Over the past few years, we've created a feral cat sanctuary; our own Feral Farmhouse. This is where we document our ongoing journey with the beautiful cats who have made this their home, and woven their way into our hearts.
