Update over due: Bear has his forever family now with a very special family!
Meet Bear-He is looking for long term foster or adopter who has experience with Huskies. Here's his story.
Bear was running at large for months, possibly even a year or longer. He was safely trapped and taken to a shelter for the mandatory stray hold. While there- he shut down. We were able to pull him out, after he was neutered, and with the help of a very special lady- he was able to be placed in a boarding/training facility. He is learning how to dog again. Still weary of his own shadow- but willing to learn. His prior history is unknown. He is fixed and vaccinated.
He does well on leash, good with other dogs, and is good in crate. As with any rescue, and husky, he should be considered a flight risk. He just needs some time and love, and will inevitably become someone's best friend
Message me if you think you might be able to help him

DECOMPRESSION PHASE FOR BEAR:
Bear has been my best friend since his capture from the streets. As we have settled him in a facility to help him decompress, I visit him daily with his favorite 3 plain cheeseburgers from McDonalds….it took Bear at least 2 weeks before he would eat in front of me….he would wait until I left the room to scarf down his burgers…..but now he will eat out of my hand and even lick my hand clean….I was one of the most happiest to see this happen. Around week three I would take a nap with Bear on his Cott, he would roll on his back for me to rub his belly, this was really a huge happy moment, knowing he was feeling comfortable.
Although Bear goes out the same door to complete a short walk and to use the restroom, he tells me when he is ready to go back inside, he is still skittish going in and out, but this is only a month into his decompressing time, I think with the loving care and home he will improve even more in every area of his life. He has enjoyed my HUGS & KISSES. He just wants to be LOVED and HUGGED….and of course his Cheeseburgers………
Bear has enjoyed his car rides to the vet for his check ups….he looks out the window and enjoys the scenery. He is very skittish with people but enjoys other animals being around, never ever has he shown any aggression.
We are looking for that certain person or couple that is willing to help Bear thru his next Journey of life. I am absolutely sure he will make a loving Foster or permanent member to their family.
Because Bear is a VERY SPECIAL companion dog, we would like to see him improve even more than he has now in a home environment. If you are serious about wanting information about Bear please send an email to [email protected] or you may call 720-244-6076 for the details. Our goal is to find a foster or permanent home for July 11, 2024. A home visit will be conducted by the training facility owner, myself and Redneck Rescue to make sure Bear will have the best fit home to continue his journey.

If you are a regular on nextdoor or Facebook you probably know me and my husband Neil as Redneck Rescue, as well as some of my friends. You may have even contacted us for help or advice. Our team is a small group of volunteers who do this out of our own pockets. We don't get paid, nor do we take rewards, getting a pet home or off the streets safe is the best reward. Our most recent recovery mission has been for a husky mix in the Hill N Park area that was dumped out there. He’s been seen in the same area since last spring- almost a year now!! Animal control has been contacted numerous times, but he knows their vehicles and hides. The community in the area has tried with loaned traps - but he’s too smart to go in that! Finally someone reached out to us. We set cameras to make sure that he was coming around and to pattern him. We had our normal missy trap set- and he was in and out eating all the bait we had. The only issue we had was he was not pulling the trigger we had on the bait. We switched to our electric sensor - placed more bait and waited. We ended up having another dog go in the trap- Bear following- that dog tripped the sensor and the door ended up hitting Bear. After this happened he would not go in the trap. We had tied the door open and kept feeding in hopes that he would give it another go. But instead we had a member of the community tie her dog in the trap and try to catch him herself. This really made him leery of the trap. We then just had to remove the door panel altogether and condition him to go in to get the food. This has resulted in us having to modify and redesign our original trap. The costs have added up quickly (gas, trap food, trail cams, slip leads, batteries, locks, etc). We don't even keep track because we do whatever it takes. But our need really is more materials to modify our equipment, which isn't cheap. Long story short, many many long hours, crazy weather, and a couple hundred dollars latter, we are setting the trap again. So much goes into searches, tracking and learning the dog's patterns, guiding the owners or the community, and having the right supplies and equipment. So we asking for donations to help in this recovery.

Please feel free to share the link. If you would like to donate or help in some other way please message me.
Even if you can't donate we still want to thank everyone for the amazing support always provided, so many of these searches wouldn't have been successful without the community.

And for those considering reporting this post for whatever reason- we provide a community service, and all money will go towards equipment and supplies. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out. Thank you 🐾🐾🐾

With the permission of an amazing local farmer and several good sightings- we are happy to report that Allie was trapped safe 1am this morning- after seven nights of being on her own after slipping her leash. Her mom and dad were over the moon thrilled to get the call- that we had her.

On Monday we were contacted about a pup that was at Balsam park in Greeley. He still had a leash attached- but AC or Good Samaritans could not get close.

So at 615pm we deployed our big box trap - loaded with Neil’s secret bait- and waited. At 645 he was caught. We brought him home, bathed him, fed him and let him decompress. Posted on all the sights but no owner has come forward 😞. He is a super sweet and super smart pup! He will be going to the Larimer Humane Society today.

😍 Safe and Sound is such a blessing!

After 51 days of being lost, RayRay has been found! We can’t thank the Greeley community enough for spreading the word, getting his picture out there. Our amazing volunteers that never gave up on him, there was always hope he would come home.
We also want to give a special thanks to Roxanne, a neighbor who stepped in and gave so much of her time. Katie, Neil and Tania for getting things organized and donating their time and skills to finally trap him safely. RayRay travelled over 8 miles east from his original location. He is finally safe! ❤️❤️❤️

Another Team RedneckRescue Animal Recovery Service happy beginning in the books! An amazing community member Mala Chandler Brady started seeing this pup in Fort Collins and posted to social media. Our team reached out, helped with fliers, and we found a place this pup (nicknamed Scruffy by the team) was hanging out and being fed.

Katie Lin Carmichael Scofield and Neil Scofield set the missy trap, but we later learned that about the same time, this pup move several miles away. Mala soon started getting lots of reported sightings in the new location, and on Saturday a heads up community member saw Scruffy near her home, recognized him from the posts, opened her fence, left a trail of food, and soon had him in her back yard!

Sarah McIntosh and I left yet another planned family gathering with Nancy Stout to help an animal in need - thanks Mom!! - and when we weren't able to hand catch him, Neil responded, and although Scruffy ate out of his hand, when the leash came out, Scruffy said, "Um, no." We decided to set our new Tomahawk XL dog trap, and despite already having eaten a ton of food, Scruffy was in the trap in a matter of minutes (the McDonald's hamburgers might have had something to do with that!). He seemed relieved to no longer be on the run and scavenging for food.

Scruffy was then on his way to a local shelter on a stray hold in case someone was looking for him. The shelter reported Scruffy is doing great and will soon be looking for his forever home! Our Fort Collins community is AMAZING!! Go Team Redneck!!

Where do I even begin…. Our little 10 lb Italian greyhound Ella jumped our fence on Monday afternoon (8/30). She was seen a couple hours later and then not again for 2 days. In that time Katie had reached out to me and offered help to find and trap Ella. She is small, fast and super skittish so I was incredibly worried. Katie kept talking me off the ledge and provided me with so much support. I was a wreck. Finally on Thursday (9/2) we had multiple sightings and we had an idea where she was. But how to catch her after she had already covered a 20 mile radius that day alone, (Confirmed sightings) that was the hard part. Katie and Neil came out and were in the area she was last spotted. We got one more call and that was that. They headed her off and nabbed her. When I came up behind them in my truck Neil was walking out from the backyard with our little girl cuddled in his arms. I have never cried so hard in my life. These two know their stuff, and I could not be more thankful. Their experience shows in every move they make. Every single piece of advice they gave made sense. I will be forever grateful for their service in finding and capturing our girl. I recommend these two a million times over. You brought our family back together with your passion, dedication, compassion and perseverance. We appreciate it so much!

So happy for Spanky and his family! After escaping from his sitters house August 2 and roaming between Severance and Windsor area until Friday August 13, when he was finally caught. Awesome teamwork with the help of Andrea and Kim and to an amazing neighborhood who kept us updated with sightings and getting the trap in place. It was Spankys mom who listened to everything we told her to do/not to do-and some great military tracing-she was able to get her hands on him and get him safely in their car!
