This sweet ole gal

She came up to me first while I was offering to hose everyone off. Everyone came up, got cooled down and left… now here she is, just napping beside me as I top the trough off. ❤️

She was in the pasture with Galant and my husband actually hand bred them himself one day. Time will tell if she took. At her age, I’d love 1 if not 2 babies out of her. 🤞🏼🤞🏼 She sure is the calmest and easiest mare.

Elsa and Gus made the front cover of the Fjord Herald magazine! A quarterly publication from the Norwegian Fjord Horse Registry. I submitted a good many pictures since this is the foal issue. Our horses and Niko can be seen on pages 4-5, and 13-15. ☺️

Our garden isn’t as full as last year because I left some beds open, but everything that’s growing is taking off!

Our first cucumber is almost ready with tons more to come. I am trellising honeynut squash for the first time. Jalapeños are about to be ready, and look at this giant steak sandwich hybrid tomato!

My cut flower garden that Anthony made me this winter is looking good too! So ready for those blooms ❤️

Look who got out of quarantine today! She’s in her own pasture and doing SO well. We will be able to closely monitor her as she’s in the pasture closest to the house.

*my husband is the definition of a beginner when it comes to horses. He went into her paddock, put her halter on and walked her to her new pasture all alone. She is a sweetheart ❤️

Annie has been with us a whole month! She’s seriously just as sweet as can be. I got a lot of hair off of her today. I’m trying to do it by hand without having to clip her so I don’t ruin her summer coat. She definitely enjoys the companionship of someone just being with her ❤️

Still has a lot of weight to put on her but she’s looking good!

This sweet girl 💞 She’s looking so much better! She talks to everyone who comes to take care of her with the sweetest nickers. She is shedding out and has the softest coat.

We got nearly 7” of rain within a 48hr timeframe so Annie has taken advantage of a mud bath. 🤭

Produce stand is out with our first bit of summer yummies!

LETTUCE! 🥬
Same honor system as last year. If you don’t think the heads are worth $1.50, use your best judgement because I know some are smaller than others. Bags are located near the container, down low to avoid much sun.

Bugs and dirt are FREE! These have been pulled from the garden and lightly rinsed.

As we get more stuff to set out we will update pictures and the board with prices. ☺️ please let me know of any questions/concerns.

Annie got a spa day! She got her feet trimmed and her teeth floated. She’s a whole new lady over here. 💅🏼

She hardly moved a muscle for her trim and was so good for her float! She’s going to make someone a great companion ❤️

Little Annie update:

🥕 she loves to talk to you every time she sees you
🥕 doesn’t mind fly spray!
🥕 her appetite is SO good
🥕 loves her new gut supplement and takes it without any issue
🥕 likes to messy up her water
🥕 loves a good neck scratch
🥕 enjoys standing under her fan on hot days
🥕 super easy to handle on the ground
🥕 no signs of any illness!

Only a week and a half with us and she’s a totally different horse. Our vet was out here on Thursday to ultrasound and she even said Annie has perked up so much!

Lion’s mane “crab cakes” with fresh lettuce from the garden ❤️😋

I have some blue oyster mushrooms and shiitake mushrooms still available but after they are gone we won’t have any until the fall. Send me a message if you’re interested. $10/lb so they don’t go to waste!

Bath time for Annie! ❤️

She has been SO good. Today she got her first of five doses of her PowerPac (hence the white lips). She stood so well for her long, cool bath. I didn’t know how she’d react to the water or hose but she’s a doll. She let me mess with all 4 feet, and even wash her face. Of course I knew she would enjoy a nice roll as soon as she went out to pasture. 😆

Her appetite has grown and she has perked up. She talks to you every time you’re nearby which is so sweet.

I have to plan my chores with the other horses around my plans with her. We want to have zero cross contamination between her and our herd. She has her own buckets, halter, lead and now brushes. I throw her hay in the AM, do my chores with everyone else, then tend to her and bond in the afternoon/evenings.

I’ve got about 15lbs of shiitake and probably 10lbs of oysters left.

I won’t be growing mushrooms again until the fall! We have a lot of stuff coming up and they are extremely time sensitive. They are so fun to grow so we will give it a try again!

Spent the morning on the tractor when all I wanted to do was mess with the ponies.

So I snuck away when Niko was napping. Trimmed almost everyone’s mane, and got baby snuggles! I didn’t even bring a halter out with me. These horses just make me happy 😌
