The proof is in the pudding 🍮🥄

With spring right around the corner, be thinking of how you're going to get your equine partner back in shape again, and all the things YOU as an owner can do to help them feel and perform their best.

Here are some tips for getting your horse legged back up for spring/summer:
•start with short sessions
•slowly increase difficulty and length of sessions
•whatever you do on one side, do on the other!!
•have your farrier out regularly (you should do this all year round)😉
•give breaks
•always offer clean, fresh water
•be sure to warm them up (walking, a little trotting) and cool them down (walking, not just standing) for at LEAST 7 minutes
•get your saddle checked! your horse probably grew/changed since last time you rode :)

Lastly, have your horse evaluated by a CESMT to ensure theyre feeling their best, and KEEP them feeling their best ❤️
Routine bodywork keeps our horses balanced, loose, HAPPY, and relaxed. It helps with digestion, muscle recovery, injury prevention, reduces inflammation, and so much more.

●It keeps US as riders/owners aware of potential problem areas, so we can better help our horses.●

Another day, another great before & after! ❤️

Massage is a great tool to help get your horse in a good state of mind, feeling their best and therefore performing their best. It relieves soreness/tension, aids in muscle recovery, reduces inflammation, increases blood flow and can even help with digestion and breathing!

Biiiig releases after this mares last session 🥰

Sophie was basically non-weight bearing on her hind right leg, for quite some time. After 4 sessions (bodywork and KTaping) she has been able to put about 75% weight on it, and has even been running and bucking out in the pasture, something she hasnt been physically able to do in YEARS.

■So how does it work?■
KTaping helps stimulate 5 major physiological compartments of the body:
•skin
•fascia (connective tissue)
•muscles
•joints
•lymphatic system

It can compress an area if applied with tension, or decompress to lift the skin if applied less tightly. It can be used to activate muscles that need to work harder, or inhibit muscles that need to rest.

KTape lifts the skin from the tissue below, which reduces the sensation of pain and stimulates circulation. This aids in the reduction of any swelling and promoting blood flow to the injured muscle.

■What are the benefits?■
• It provides support and stability without restricting the range of motion.

• It improves the proprioceptive feedback to the area, helping retrain the muscles to maintain the correct posture.

• It improves endurance as the increased circulation enhances the oxygen supply to muscles and the removal of lactic acid.

• It also improves recovery time after intense training sessions or races, as the increased circulation assists in the removal of waste products.

Helping horses is more than a passion to me, its a priority.🐎

Love a good before and after!

These thermal images show a significant decrease in hot spots (potential sore areas or areas of concern) after just one session! Lucky for this horse, he gets to see me three more times so he can feel and perform his best for his rider. 🥰

There is a direct correlation between horsemanship, training and bodywork.

These should be symbiotic in my opinion. However that is not always the case.

The physiological response of the horse’s body is direct feedback of how they are worked, ridden and trained. When the horse retains recurring tensional patterns, injuries, triggers, anxieties - this is an internal mirror of external stimuli.

When you have horses being contorted into training aids, not focusing on building the right muscle groups, ridden too long or too often, poor tack, harsh bits, behind the vertical disengaged, being pushed too far too fast, an inadequate feeding regiment, improper hoof care etc. etc. these horses need more maintenance than just a bodywork session, a chiro or some injections. They need a fundamental change. A restructuring of their entire regiment. Unfortunately a lot of people aren’t willing to make those changes bc it may cost them a win or time out of the saddle. Their horse is going so well right now they don’t want to change anything, or medal finals is right around the corner.

Do these riders love their horses? I’m sure that they do. But that doesn’t change the fact that ultimately they are not making the most humane decision for them. I encourage you to take a step back and assess what your program looks like for your horse. Not just in the sense of, are you getting bodywork/maintenance done for them but also: Are they getting adequate rest? Does their tack fit? Are they being ridden in a humane way? Have you figured out why they are spooking or bucking? Are you actually addressing structural problems, or just covering them up? Are you putting the horse first or are you putting your agenda first?

These are the questions that we need to be asking ourselves. Until then it’s not about the horse.. not really, it’s about the human.

This might be my favorite ✨before & after️✨️ to date!

This is a mare that presented with some discomfort (by way of rearing and bucking) during her last ride. Her owner knew this was extremely out of character for her and decided to have her checked. After ruling out saddle fit, we did a body work session and found great success! I hope this mare feels much more comfortable and can get back on the trails with her owner ASAP!

✨️Back soreness can almost always be linked to one of these 5 things:
•improper saddle fit
•unbalanced hooves
•old injury
•poor comformation
•unbalanced rider

Big big big kudos to the owner for trusting her gut that something was off with her horse, and choosing to do something about it rather than just 'pushing her through it'! What a great client to have!

Lets talk about ✨symmetry️✨️

While we know that horses (and people) are rarely perfectly symmetrical, we should keep in mind this chain of events....

👉🏼Asymmetry leads to compensation
👉🏼Compensation leads to dysfunction

So what does this mean for your horse? It means its our job as owners to help keep them as balanced as possible to prevent gradual break down of, well, everything. Muscles, hoof wear, limbs, how they move, stance, gaits, maneuvers, etc etc etc.

When there are imbalances in those areas, we will eventually see compensatory movements, which will lead to... you guessed it! Dysfunction.

Pictured is my personal horse, who is very heavy on his left side. He struggles with most everything on the right, and while I always try my best to train both sides equally, it is always a battle. You can see in the first picture that his left side is more muscled, causing him to stand imbalanced, even though he is squared up. That is an actual photo of how he stands, not just a coincidence in time. You can clearly see his whole alignment is off - this is due to the muscule imbalance.

The photo on the right is after 3 bodywork sessions with KTape. There was much more KTape applied but I forgot to take the photo before I started applying it 😆

In short, these are the things that make or break your horse. If I continued to ride him without fixing this imbalance, he no doubt would gradually break down, which is the last thing anyone wants for their trusted pals!

Knowing what you know now, imagine what a few sessions could do for your performance horse!

Contact me today and ask about my spring specials! 🌱🌸☀️🐎

FINALLY found some time to get a few sessions in on my personal horse, Odis.

The first image is after his 1st session, and second image is after his 3rd.

🖤What is thermal imaging? What do all the colors mean?
🐴The thermal images, in a nutshell, help me find sore spots, inflammation and problem areas before even getting hands on with the horse. The red spots are servere (most heat), then orange, yellow, and so on to green and then blue would be on the opposite end of the spectrum (no heat). Thermal imaging can be used to help determine the cause of lameness or injuries, and also helps to determine the best treatment plan for the horse.

What are some problem areas your horse might have, if they were to be imaged?🧐

a little 😎before and after😎 of Wrangler, a very special little paint horse!

Horses are athletes and deserve to be treated like one! Make bodywork part of your horses regular maintenance and watch them perform better than ever.

Regular bodywork helps increase range of motion, keeps them balanced, aids in muscle repair and reduces inflammation (plus SO much more)!
