Twas the night before Christmas, not a creature was stirring, not even a baby doxie. 🎄🎅🏼

Just like all our kids are not the same, not all our mamas are the same. Due to a medical issue, Maple was not able to raise her first litter; Isabella and her tend to whelp together and Isabella took her pups on. Our vet told us she was able to go ahead and try again, so we did. Three weeks ahead of due date, Maple moved into a pool and play yard, our typical setup for mamas to be (usually about a week in advance) and new mamas. She is very much a creature of habit and likes her routines to stay the same so she was unsettled for a few days at first at night when it was time to go in the play yard, but she eventually settled down. After she had her pups this time, she was such a good and attentive mama even though she ate too many placentas and it made her GI tract upset. After we settled that down again, she would hop in the pool and lay for a few minutes and then out, on repeat. She was medically fine, but I could still tell she was unsettled. She likes her kennel, that is her safe space and while a typical kennel is not at all big enough for 6 puppies and her, I felt like I need to come up with a solution to make her feel comfortable. I went out and bought a gigantic kennel (and teased my husband that I was getting a Great Dane puppy), a really soft orthopedic kennel insert, and wrapped it up in a big puppy pad with our regular pads on top. She is so much b more content with her giant kennel. In this picture, she had just gotten out to go potty and she was nosing each puppy before she gets back in with them.

My mama senses were tingling and now we have happy and healthy mama and pups. 🩷

Wowza! The holiday season seems to be flying by! We have some newbies here!

Maple had SIX pups on 12/2 and was a smooth delivery except she was gobbling the placentas and almost took my fingers off trying to take them away. That sent her into a pancreatitis flare for about a week and half but all is well now after some good vet care by Dr. Kelsey and mama’s round the clock attention. It seems like we have three regular wires and three silky wires. Two girls and four boys.

Isabella delivered two puppies next to me on the couch while I was super sick on 12/6. She needed a little assistance with her first pup but we got it done and everyone has done great. Two boys- a smooth Isabella and tan and a black and tan piebald long hair.

Paisley, Oh Paisley! Paisley is a first time mama and had an incredibly long labor and I was naturally getting pretty worried but she was not lethargic or pushing so I decided to let her go until I saw the first signs of distress. I was up all night with her thinking ok she will push any time now.. wrong! Trevor stepped in after working night shift while I went to work and after 18.5 hrs we saw the first pushes. I micromanaged via phone and camera. She finished after 23 hrs of labor. I am glad I waited, and it turns out she delivered SIX little puppies yesterday (12/17) without issue (hoping to keep it that way, but as always will watch everyone closely). She got lots of loves and praises during labor and lots of food afterwards. Puppies are smooth and long (three boys and three girls). The biggest is the 5.5 oz and the smallest girl is 4.2 oz, but she’s already up to 4.65 this morning.

I can’t with little Cooper. He is so perfect. He reminds me of my little Oscar that was brought to me by Santa in a taxi cab on Christmas Eve 30 years ago. Red dapple smooth boy looking to party on New Year’s Eve.

One red smooth dapple boy with the biggest puppy dog eyes.

Dahlia loves playing with pups because they are her size. 😂 Maggie Moon Pie is from Violet and King Henry, and she’s tearing it up with Dahlia. Queen Lulu is not in the mood today.

Where are all my silky lovers at? This guy is so sweet, fluffy and adorable.

I meant to share this video of Max, out of Fluffy and Bizbee, that was shared with me. He’s a shaded cream silky wire hair and he was so excited for his new pool!
