Update- heading to foster to adopt

Beautiful and friendly pair of cats need a foster as soon as possible. They are currently at PetMAC running around, but the male is not good with dogs and so they cannot stay.
Hate the thought of putting them in a basement or guestroom. They love people.
All startup supplies and a good amount of food can be sent with them.
Please complete the application on the Pets Bring Joy website. Of course they are also available for adoption.
Listed as Augustus and Violet on the Pets Bring Joy website
Fosters must be in the greater DC area

Dear Community,
We’ve received only half the donations we had by this time last year, and we are still just halfway to our $25,000 goal. Every dollar directly supports the animals who depend on us for safety, medical care, and a second chance at life.

If you believe every animal deserves love and a forever home, please donate today—and just as importantly, share our message with friends, family, and fellow animal lovers. Your generosity can help us close the gap and keep our rescue efforts strong.

Because of you, two overlooked kittens are finally getting the chance they deserve.
Yukon and Hemey spent most of their kittenhood waiting. At our West Virginia shelter partner, these two teenaged cats watched other cats, including their mother, and kittens come and go while they remained behind—passed over again and again because of their eyes. Yukon, a gentle boy with a congenital birth defect, had one eye that never fully developed. Hemey, a sweet and spirited girl, carried corneal scarring from an infection that had long since healed.

But what others saw as imperfections, we saw as an opportunity to help two wonderful cats finally shine!

When Yukon and Hemey arrived, they were met not with hesitation, but with hope. PBJ immediately scheduled a consultation with a veterinary ophthalmologist to learn exactly what these special kittens needed. The great news? Both Yukon and Hemey can see out of their affected eyes. Hemey’s vision is stable, and with love and patience she will blossom into a confident, playful cat.

Yukon’s case needed a bit more help. His eyelid was simply too big for his small, underdeveloped eye, causing a droop that limited his field of vision. The ophthalmologist recommended an eyelid resection—a straightforward procedure that would open his world both literally and figuratively.

And because of supporters like you, Yukon is scheduled for surgery this December.
Your generosity is giving him the chance to see more clearly, explore more boldly, and enter his forever home with comfort and confidence.

This , your support transforms lives—especially for pets like Yukon and Hemey, who only needed someone to look beyond first impressions and believe in their potential.

Dust Bunny has a way of melting hearts the moment you meet him. At seven years old, this gentle gray boy has already lived a life full of uncertainty. Originally rescued in New Jersey, when his owner was taken into a dementia care facility, he was lucky enough to be taken in by a wonderful group that provided his initial vetting and gave him his first steps to a fresh start.🥰

But Dust Bunny’s journey isn’t finished—not yet.

It has become clear that he has been suffering in silence. Behind his soft purrs and affectionate nature is a painful mouth that makes every bite a challenge and every day a little harder than it should be. The only path forward is a comprehensive feline dental—an expensive but essential procedure that will finally free him from chronic discomfort.😿

This sweet, trusting boy deserves to experience life without pain. He deserves to know what it feels like to eat comfortably, to play without hesitation, and to be ready—truly ready—for the loving forever family who is waiting for him.

This , you can help Dust Bunny take that step.🙏💞
https://pbj.org/gt2025/gt2025.html

Your generosity will help cover the cost of his dental surgery and bring him closer to the joyful future he’s been waiting for. With your support, Dust Bunny’s story can shift from one of survival to one of hope, healing, and home.

Please give today, and help this tender-hearted boy finally get the fresh start he’s been dreaming of.💞🐾

Thanks to your generosity, we are almost half way to reaching our fundraising goal of $25K with just $15K to go!

With gratitude, Dust Bunny and The PBJ Rescue Team

When 16-year-old Ivy was found alone in someone’s backyard this November—confused, vulnerable, yet still gentle as a whisper—no one knew just how much strength this tiny senior carried inside her. BCAS brought her to safety, and thanks to your support, Ivy now has a chance at the warmth and love she had been missing for far too long.

Despite all she’s been through, Ivy greeted her rescuers with quiet trust. Her foster mom describes her as “the perfect combination of sweet, calm, and loving.” Ivy is happiest when curled up beside you for a peaceful nap, or simply lounging nearby, offering silent companionship. She’s also been wonderfully kind to the resident cats—easygoing, respectful, and content to share her space with serene grace.
But Ivy’s journey hasn’t been without challenges.😿

Our vet discovered that Ivy was born without one eye, and her remaining eye has low vision, making the world a little dimmer and harder to navigate. Yet she adapts beautifully, finding sunny spots, soft beds, and the gentle hands that make her feel safe.💞

She also lives with arthritis in her hips and knees, a common hardship for senior cats like her. To keep her comfortable and mobile, Ivy will need monthly injections of a new arthritis medication called Solensia for life—a commitment that ensures she can enjoy the simple pleasures she loves: warm naps, and leaning into her humans for affection.

In addition, Ivy has the onset of symptoms related to kidney disease which will need monitoring and treatment as determined by our vet. We’ve been fortunate to receive some donations toward Ivy’s care, but her ongoing medical needs are significant.

This Giving Tuesday, we need your help to make sure Ivy receives the lifelong comfort she deserves.
https://pbj.org/gt2025/gt2025.html

Ivy is now ready for a quiet, loving forever home—a place where her golden years can truly be golden. Until then, and even after, your generosity ensures she remains pain-free, cherished, and surrounded by warmth.

This Giving Tuesday, you can be Ivy’s hero.
Your gift gives her comfort today and hope for tomorrow.
