We are absolutely thrilled to announce the arrival of three lucky cats from our Best Friends Network Partner, : 7 year old Kettlecorn and sweet momma-baby pair Dahlia and Little Mewie! These fabulous felines hitched a ride to freedom yesterday, and they're all set to find their cozy foster homes with us at PBJ today!

A huge shoutout to our incredible Director Jacquie and our dedicated volunteer Juli for making this transport to Fairfax possible! It truly takes a village, and we're so grateful to have such a passionate team working tirelessly to give these kitties a second chance at love.

Celebrate National Volunteer Month – By Helping Our Community Cats! 🐾

Did you know that there are numerous community cat colonies across Northern Virginia that rely on the dedication of independent Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) advocates? While not directly affiliated with PBJ, we partner with them and greatly respect their mission. These passionate individuals work tirelessly to care for outdoor cats—and they need your help!

Volunteers are needed to assist with feeding community cats just once a week in the following areas:

• Leesburg
• Sterling
• Reston
• South Alexandria (Rt. 1 area)
• Springfield
• Woodbridge
• Dale City

Feeding isn’t the only way to make a difference—there are also opportunities to help with trapping, transporting, and even temporarily housing cats. No experience? No problem! Training is provided to ensure you're confident and comfortable in your role.

Volunteering is a small commitment that makes a huge impact. 💛

Yesterday was a sad day for PBJ as we suddenly had to say goodbye to senior cat Jayden.

Despite being rushed to the hospital and put on oxygen his chest had filled with fluid and his organs were enlarged
Two veterinarians agreed that humane euthanasia was the best decision

He will be missed and was very much loved. Special thanks to his amazing fosters

Jayden's adorable and sweet brother Brayden (brown Tabby) is now seeking a home that includes a kitty sibling. He is 10-years-old

Pets Bring Joy is incredibly appreciative of Lori Rolnick and Janice McLain, co-owners of the PetMAC DC Pet Marketplace and Adoption Center, located at 4919 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington DC 20016, for all that they do for us and the rescue community at large!

PetMAC has been serving the local Tenleytown community and the greater Washington DC area since 2007. They're an independent, woman-owned, small, local business who believe in supporting other American and local businesses by offering a large variety of USA and locally-made pet foods and supplies.

Lori is a key member of the PBJ leadership team, serving in the role of our Cat Program Director. Both Lori and Janice believe that, given the number of homeless animals languishing in shelters, animals should not be bought and sold. They work closely with PBJ and other local rescue groups, personally fostering cats and hosting several cats at a time in their shop available for adoption or fostering. They are active in promoting and donating to rescue fundraisers, and offer discounted supplies to partner rescue groups as their way of saying “thank you” for helping rescue homeless animals.

Frito is still waiting for his forever home…1500 days and counting!

One year ago, Frito was dropped off by his owner to a couple he hardly knew, and for the saddest reason: the young man had been evicted and was living in his car. Frito lived outside the couple’s small apartment for 8 months and fortunately didn’t run away.

Luckily for Frito, a caring PBJ volunteer feeding stray cats in the community learned of the handsome orange cat and rescued Frito last fall. He officially became a PBJ cat and has lived in a foster home ever since.

This lovable orange tabby is approximately 4 years old and has a doglike personality that’s as outgoing as it is endearing. Frito thrives on attention – he’ll follow you around the house, seeking out any opportunity to cozy up in your lap for a well-deserved snuggle. And for added fun, Frito loves to play fetch just like your favorite canine friend!

PBJ welcomes six new cats from JARM (Jasper Animal Rescue Mission) in Ridgeland SC, flown into Culpeper by volunteer pilot Chris Allen: three black kitty boys, two tuxedo girls, and a gorgeous patched tabby girl. All six will be making their debut at the East Fairfax PetSmart store next week ... stay tuned for updates!
