metro area, emphasizing saving the lives of older cats and dogs who are often passed over for kittens and puppies.

We had some wonderful holiday adoptions.
Congratulations to Freya, Senior cat Marmalade, bonded pair Preston and Rudy and then drum roll please !!!!!!!! as two of the shyest cats in our rescue Liza and Katrina found a home with a couple who wanted to help a hard to place pair get adopted !

This holiday season, we have a heartwarming tale that is sure to bring a smile to your face! Fiona, who joined the Pets Bring Joy PBJ family back in March 2023 after a challenging journey from a rural shelter in West Virginia, is enjoying the holidays in her forever home! After spending over a year in rescue and facing hurdles in her transition, Fiona is now living like the queen she truly is! Her new family shares "Fiona is doing well! She's a spoiled little princess with a window dedicated to just her, where my apartment has become her kingdom. She's eating well and taking her daily medication like a champ. And of course following the sun during the daytime! She's been playful and sweet, a very good cat." Its stories like Fiona's that remind us of the magic of adoption, especially during this joyful season. As we gather to celebrate, lets carry this spirit of compassion and kindness forward. Thank you all for supporting PBJ's mission. Wishing you and your loved ones a warm and joyous holiday season!

Its What About Me Wednesday and we would like to introduce you to Nunu
Nunu came to us all the way from Kuwait where her chances of adoption were slim to none
When she arrived she was extremely anxious and upset but over time has really come around.
Nunu is best in an adult only household but is doing really welt in her foster home. She is 2 years old and ready to find a home for the holidays

Holiday Kitty Reminder #3: Christmas Tree Danger

Christmas trees can tip over if pets climb on them or try to play with the lights and ornaments. Consider tying your tree to the ceiling or a doorframe using fishing line to secure it. Also,water additives for Christmas trees can be hazardous to your pets if swallowed. Avoid adding anything to the water for your tree if you have pets in the house.

Holiday Kitty Reminder #2: Décor No- No’s!

You may have more festive décor out this time of year, so be sure to keep wires, batteries and glass or plastic ornaments out of paws' reach. A wire can deliver a potentially lethal electrical shock and a punctured battery can cause burns to the mouth and esophagus, while shards of breakable ornaments can damage your pet's mouth and digestive tract.

Sally's dedicated foster mom leaves on vacation Dec.22 and we are hoping to find Sally a home for the holidays.
Sally is an easy young Tabby girl who likely prefers to be a single.
She is fostered in DC but doesn't mind traveling for the right home :)

PBJ Home for the Holidays Campaign – Featuring Wally

Can you help us bring Wally home for the holidays? He has come a long way, 7,000 miles exactly, from Doha, Qatar, where a kind American rescued him as a young stray. She knew he had previously been someone’s (abandoned) pet because of how friendly he was. She brought him to the United States and where he is looking for his forever home.

Wally is a youngster, between 1-2 years old and is curious, playful, talkative, and loves to be in the middle of lots of action! He is very social with new people, coming out to meet and greet anyone who visits him in his foster home. Everyone who meets him falls in love with him, but not one person has offered to adopt him yet.

WALLY LOVES DOGS! In his Qatar foster home, he was best friends with the foster's collie mix. He's kinda bossy with other cats, though.

We would love for Wally to find his Forever Home before the holidays! Do you have room in your home and heart for a furry friend? Please share far and wide with your friends and neighbors!

It was a great week of adoptions with 10 cats finding their forever homes.

Holiday Kitty Reminder #1: Mistle-No!

Both mistletoe and holly can cause gastrointestinal upset and cardiovascular problems if ingested by pets. Many types of lilies that are typically found in holiday bouquets are highly toxic and can cause kidney failure in cats. Poinsettias can also make pets sick with mild to moderate gastrointestinal irritation. So, be sure to keep floral decorations out of paws reach or replace the traditional holiday plant with a faux alternative!
