It's with heavy hearts we say goodbye to long term PBJ cat Tabitha. Tabitha has been with us since 2023 and lived a happy life with her foster Mom, Tammy. Tammy made sure she was loved, cherished, and well cared for. Tabitha was particular about who she spent time with (Tammy being her favorite human of all time), she loved sleeping on the bed, taking long naps, and keeping her foster kitty roommates in line. We wish you well darling Tabitha and send our love with you over the rainbow bridge.🌈❤🐾

🚨 LONG-TIMER ALERT — NEARLY 300 DAYS WAITING 🚨

Luke and Hummus have been waiting almost 300 days for their forever home, and we truly don’t understand how these incredible bonded brothers are still here. They traveled all the way from Amman, Jordan in April 2025 with hopes of finding a family — and they’re still waiting.

Luke (1½ mostly white fur) is sweet, petite, curious, and loves following his people from room to room. Hummus (2½), lovingly called “Hummie,” is a big, gentle teddy bear who lives for lap time, hugs, and instant purrs. Together they wrestle, chase, groom each other, and curl up to sleep in the tiniest beds — inseparable best friends who bring out the best in one another.

These boys have had far too few inquiries despite their loving personalities, perfect manners, and deep bond. We offer a foster-to-adopt trial, so there’s no pressure — just a chance to see if they’re the missing pieces in your home.

⏳ They’ve waited long enough.
🏡 Maybe your home is the one they’ve been waiting for.

We offer a foster to adopt trial period where you can determine if they are the right fit for you. Maybe you have room in your home and heart for these precious boys?

Please visit https://pbj.org and click the ADOPT link at the top of the page to complete a no-obligation adoption form and to view our adoption fees.

Our adoption fee includes all age-appropriate vaccinations, FIV/FeLV combo testing, microchipping, and spay/neuter.

Introducing Gaffer our first new kitty of 2026
Recently we saw a plea from Page County Animal Shelter for 3 senior cats needing rescue help as soon as possible for medical needs
Two of the three went to another rescue and we agreed to take senior cat Gaffer
Gafffer needs everything- Bloodwork, dental, combo testing, neuter and likely more.
Thanks to all of our supporters and your generous donations Gaffer will arrive in a PBJ foster home this morning and get all the care he needs.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Gaffer after he is medically cleared, please let us know. We are told he is extremely friendly and good with other cats.

Dear PBJ friends and family,

As we reflect on 2025, our hearts are filled with gratitude. Thanks to your compassion and commitment, 338 deserving homeless cats and kittens found loving homes last year! Together, we also supported vital TNR efforts, independent rescue partners, and shelter partners, while assisting over 40 families who needed to surrender and rehome their pets after falling on hard times.

We are especially thankful for our growing foster network and dedicated volunteers. Your time, patience, and love are the foundation of everything we do, and our lifesaving work simply would not be possible without you.

We extend our sincere thanks to our generous 2025 adoption event hosts—East Fairfax PetSmart, PetMAC DC, Fairfax ACE Hardware, and Fairfax Pet Evolution—for providing welcoming spaces to connect cats with families.

Thank you as well to everyone who attended our Paws and Pour Wine Tasting and fundraising event in September. We look forward to seeing even more of our rescue community at our 2026 event.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our partner veterinary practices, whose dedication to the medical welfare of our foster cats and kittens is truly immeasurable.

As we move into the new year, we are excited to continue our mission alongside this incredible community. Thank you for standing with us and making a lasting difference.🥰🐾

Wishing you and yours a Happy New Year,

The Pets Bring Joy Rescue Team

Dear Friends,

As we approach the end of the year, we wanted to share an important reminder about supporting our rescue.

Beginning in 2026, itemized charitable deductions will be reduced based on income. That means donations made now, in 2025, may provide a greater tax benefit than those made after January 1. Check out what tax expert Bryan Lake has to say about money saving tax moves in 2025
https://wtop.com/business-finance/2025/12/last-minute-tax-moves-could-save-you-money-before-2025-ends/

By donating before the end of the year, you’re not only helping animals in need today—you’re also making a smart financial choice for yourself. Your generosity allows us to continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals who depend on us. And YOU RECIEVE AN IMMEDIATE tax acknowledgment when donating via our donation page

If you’ve been thinking about giving, now is the perfect time. Thank you for standing with PBJ Animal Rescue and for making a difference when it matters most.

With gratitude,
The PBJ Animal Rescue Team

We are delighted to announce that PBJ is a proud recipient of a 2025 Ursula Landsrath Animal Rescue Fund Grant (ULARF)! Please see the attached announcement from the Community Foundation for Loudoun and North Fauquier Counties. We remember Ursula with great admiration for all that she did for homeless animals, and we are grateful for her ongoing contributions to our community. The grantmaking agency established in her name helps PBJ and many other organizations like us in Northern Virginia further our lifesaving work, for which we are deeply thankful!

For more than 200 days, these beautiful souls have shared one quiet foster home together—learning its routines, curling up in the same familiar spots, and waiting patiently for a chance that hasn’t yet come. Despite how loving and gentle they are, there have been very few inquiries about these beautiful bonded brothers, Charlie and Zeke, and we truly don’t understand why. They have known consistency, kindness, and safety… but not the feeling of being chosen.

Charlie and Zeke are deeply bonded to the idea of home and ready to give their hearts to someone who sees them. They offer soft purrs, trusting eyes, and the kind of companionship that only comes from patience and resilience. When they leave their foster home, it won’t just be a move—it will be the moment they realize this waiting was worth it. All they need now is someone to say, you’re finally mine. Watch the video to get a glimpse of their big, lovable personalities. 🧡🐾

Interested in meeting Charlie and Zeke? Please visit pbj.org and click the ADOPT link at the top of the page to complete a no-obligation adoption application. Pets Bring Joy Rescue (PBJ), a Fairfax-based pet adoption service, is waiving adoption fees for black cat pairs until the end of 2025 for their rescue kitties. This limited-time offer is part of their ongoing effort to bring joy to people and pets through rescue and adoption. Recently PBJ teamed up Best Friends Animal Society
for their Bring Love Home Challenge, increasing foster placements and adoptions. All kitties adopted through PBJ have age-appropriate vaccinations, FIV/FeLV combo testing, microchipping, and spay/neuter.
