Fancy Cats & Dogs is a nonprofit organization run by volunteers, with the purpose of rehoming cats that need it. A lot of these cats have been through hard times, so we do our best to make sure to match up every cat with the right human(s) for them. We are a 501(c)(3) charity and our money comes from donations so anything that you can do to help is immensely appreciated (United Way #98772)

Founded in 1997 by Cathy Awad, Fancy Cats now has four PetSmart Adoption Centers and 150+ volunteers. Our mission is to end needless euthanasia at shelters in the National Capital area by rescuing and finding suitable lifetime homes for our cats & dogs, promoting spaying and neutering, and educating the public on responsible pet ownership. Since our inception in 1997, we have found loving homes for 15,000+ cats. At 13 years old, Bubbles isn’t asking for much — just a soft place to land, and someone to love her in her golden years.

She’s a gentle soul who can no longer jump up due to arthritis, but she still finds so much joy in life: sitting quietly next to you while you watch TV, gazing out the window, or simply being in the room with someone who cares. She’s not playful anymore, and that’s okay — she doesn’t need much...Just you.

Bubbles takes daily thyroid and arthritis pain medication, but she’s wonderfully cooperative — she takes them in her food or via a simple topical dose. She's low-maintenance, calm, and loving.

Bubbles just needs to be your one and only — no other pets, just a quiet home and a kind heart.

We know this might sound like a lot for one little cat. But we promise you — Bubbles is worth it. Her companionship is peaceful, her presence grounding. She doesn’t ask for the world, just a soft spot beside you and a warm hand to remind her she’s not alone.

These two bonded brothers are not only incredibly sweet and affectionate, but they also know how to keep themselves entertained! Jesse and Jerry are a bundle of joy, always finding new ways to have fun with each other (and their foster siblings)!

Jesse is the playful one who can spend hours chasing after his favorite spring toys. His energy and curiosity are endless, but when he's done playing, he loves nothing more than curling up for a cuddle.

Jerry is the more independent one, but don't let that fool you- he loves attention when he wants it. His go-to toys are soft, furry ones that he loves carrying around and playing with.

Though they're about 3 years old and past the kitten phase, their playful spirits are as strong as ever. They're looking for a quieter home, preferably one without small children or dogs, as they're not used to either. However, they're perfectly happy with older children and other cats!

Lizzy is a 1-2 year old, 45 lb. Alaskan Malamute Mix, according to her DNA results. She is extremely smart, housebroken, crate trained, fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped.

Liz is utterly stunning. Because she is so energetic, she needs a home that is up for action. If you jog, walk several miles a day, enjoy hiking on the weekends or would want a potential dog for agility or other sports, Lizzy could be your girl. She will definitely Netflix and Chill in the evening but she is all about the fun during the day.

She is very friendly and outgoing and is learning to curb her enthusiasm as she wants to meet EVERYONE. Lizzy enjoys playing with other dogs and has made lots of friends.

This little guy has a story to tell. He began life on the streets, did time in the slammer, and somewhere in between he got a full sleeve tattoo. When he arrived, he had such a fat baby belly that he was shaped like a gourd. Hence, the name Gourdy.

We bailed him and his tiny sister out when they were just over two weeks old. He’s another bottle baby. This means people are family.

Gourdy is a very outgoing, adventurous dude that has met the resident cat and dog. He says cats are ok, dogs will need to prove that they are friends. He loves his kitten buddies. His sister Truffle will be available in another week and a half. She is a little behind the curve, but these two make a great duo.

If you are looking for a kitten or two that will bring so much joy to your life, Gourdy and his friends are ready to pack their bags and get a new last name!

Dog Days of Summer event at Caboose Commons in Fairfax on Sunday, 6/22 from 3-7pm- come meet some of our adoptable dogs!

Please let your family, friends, and neighbors know about these two adorable little tigers - Benji (male) and Jasmine (female). These two little kittens are about 12 weeks old and as sweet as can be - amongst the most affectionate and cuddly little kittens EVER, according to their foster mom. You will be greeted with sweet and gentle cheek rubs and loud purrs every morning and have "a puddle" of warm and soft kittens on your lap every night to wish you sweet dreams.

Benji and Jasmine are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together. They will be at the Fair Lakes adoption fair this Saturday.

Smuggle arrived with her brother Yoti. As a former bottle baby, she is very drawn to people and interacting with them. These two are like the yin and yang of kittens. She balances him out. Where he is vocal, she is quietly purring. Smuggle will throw down when he plays rough with her and then find you for snuggles and scritchy scratches. Her little gray chin was made for them.

If you are looking for a very personable kitten that seeks a warm lap for naps, but is also independent enough to play by herself and with her kitten friends, she’s your girl.

She did request that we inform her future family that she prefers her beds soft and comfy (a cubby type is great), and that her cat trees have the bells inside the hanging toys.

Coyote, aka Yoti, arrived with his sister Smuggle when they were just old enough to transition to solid foods. He is very people-oriented. This guy loves to have your attention.

Yoti is a man of a lot of words. If he has a thought, he will vocalize it. He knows what he wants and has no problem telling you or anyone within earshot. He has a quiet side as well, so if you are like his foster and office from home, he won’t always chime in on calls.

Yoti is your typical kitten that loves to play, explore, climb, and party hard until his batteries run out. Then, it’s nap time. Once he’s awake, he’ll demand a snacky snack.

In addition to his adorable face and outgoing personality, we think he may have a touch of Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). He’s a little wobbly; just enough for it to be noticeable. It does not slow him down and he gets around like a normal kitten, and it has no effect on his eating and litterbox habits.
