Why did I name my business "Lingo" Dog Training?

Being a dog trainer is a lot like teaching a foreign language to both ends of the leash. As learning progresses, the human and dog team should understand one another better and better. One of the facets of human-dog relationships that I find fastinating is that each pair has their own unique communication style, their personal Lingo.

Training should feel like a cooperative partnership with an obedient dog. The foundation of training is clear communication from human to dog - and vice versa.

One of my favorite thought experiments is to try to imagine how another species of animal perceives it's world, it's umwelt (explanatory video in comments if you're interested - not my video). How is the world different for your dog than it is for you?
