The Baldwin Humane Society, formerly BARC, is a no-kill adoption agency. Established in 1979. Pet homelessness continues to be an issue all over Baldwin County.

Established in 1979, we were the first animal advocacy group in Baldwin County. Our goal is to eliminate the number of abused and abandoned pets through spay/neuter, education, rescue and adoption. As a 501(c)3 not-for-profit, we rely entirely upon donations and do not receive any government funding. We rescue, rehabilitate, and find homes for hundreds of abused, abandoned and neglected pets annua

lly. The Baldwin Humane Society is dedicated to working with individuals in the public as well as other local organizations to provide programs like low cost spay/neuter vouchers, our adoption and foster program, public medical assistance, trap-neuter-return services for feral cats, and more!

Meet our new girl, Magpie! She is around 8 months old with a whole bunch of puppy still left in her! Magpie needs someone willing to work with her and give her a little training. She does well with other dogs. Magpie is up to date on shots, micro-chipped, and spayed. These six beauties were recently brought to us after their human dad sadly passed away. He was a phenomenal human who worked tirelessly to rescue cats in our community. He had several of his own that he adopted himself. His family is working diligently to find all of his babies safe and loving homes. They even kept a few themselves! Please share and help us make sure they get the wonderful homes they deserve :)

Thank you so much to all those who donated toward our hurricane relief drive. There are still lots of people and pets being affected daily by the destruction left behind by Helene and Milton We will continue to gather donations of pet food and make sure it gets transported to those in need. We have also heard that warm weather clothes are also in demand as so many people are still without power 😞

P.S. special thank you to the volunteers who made this transport of supplies possible.

Teamwork makes the dream work! Thanks to our friends at BISSELL Pet Foundation and partnering groups, we were able to participate in getting more than 80 pets to homes in New England! 🫶 Also shout out to our amazing staff for putting in all the hard work that makes transports possible!

Happy Mothers Day! We are so grateful for moms like Momager who love and take such good care of their babies, just like all the other amazing mothers out there! ❤️💕💗

Today was such a special day for us here at the BHS! We got a visit from our favorite girl Tally and her human parents who were here to pick out the newest addition to the family. Tally originally came to us as a lil wobbly baby calico over seven years ago and was adopted when she was 10 months old. Tally has Cerebellar Hypoplasia which affects her movement and coordination but it’s VERY clear that she is a happy and healthy girl with the perfect family. And congrats to Freddy on wooing Tally and getting the honor of joining her fam 🙂. Happy Friday!

We had a blast at The Chow Line Pet Food Pantry’s Paws on the Lake event this weekend! Lula was vibing so much with the DJ’s tunes that she had to show off her dance moves. 😂🤣

Bocelli Update! This little guy is a trooper. As much as we hoped otherwise, both of Bo’s eyes are too far gone to save. He had surgery yesterday to remove the more heavily infected of the two. He’s a little dude and can’t be under anesthesia for too long, so he has a second surgery scheduled for next week. The most important thing is that he is feeling sooooo much better. He’s got a great appetite and has become quite the little purr machine (he wasn’t so sure about humans for the first few days). He loves cuddles and has melted the hearts of all the staff. Thank you SO much to everyone who has donated toward his care!!!
