We are delighted to showcase Lovely, a long-term feline resident of our humane society since January 2024. She is around 2 years old. While her cautious nature around strangers may have led to her being overlooked, a video produced by our staff reveals her warm and affectionate personality. We now invite interested adopters to provide Lovely with a peaceful and supportive environment, suited to her needs and preferences regarding feline companionship.
To adopt Lovely, please submit an application or contact us at [email protected].
Fanta
Fanta
1 year old
Dane Mix
65lbs
Spayed and UTD
Lyme negative
Fanta might look familiar to you… that’s because her *twin has been with us for a little while now. Sunkist and Fanta are hard to tell apart! Possibly they are sisters, based on age and appearance.
Fanta does show some similar qualities as Sunkist. And some not so similar.
Fanta would be okay with cats, but she really wanted to play when she met one. Some friendly sniffs, licks and then play stance. When meeting some of the other dogs, she wants to establish dominance. Not in an agressive way though. But definitely enough to highly recommend a meet and greet with other dogs. She doesn’t seem to have the protective instincts that Sunkist has.
Fanta is a very big puppy and has a lot to learn.

hi there! i adopted Margo a week or so ago and just wanted to share some pictures and update y’all on her.
by the second day i knew she was just an absolute sweetheart. i could tell she wanted pets but she was still apprehensive. after sitting with her for a while more she was all about it! i slowly started introducing my two cats to her, no one has shown signs of attacking another just general hissing from my 2 cats 🤦🏻♂️. she responds to my voice when i walk in her room, will show me her belly, and even saw her make her first biscuits the other day 🥹 she’s been very curious about the rest of my apartment and is getting braver every time she has the opportunity to explore. Margo has truly been the bravest girl on this journey and continues to be the sweetest little thing. it makes me incredibly sad that no one gave her a chance until now, all she needed was kind words and loving hands. thank you for giving me the opportunity to have this sweet soul in my life!!!

You may have noticed our updated profile picture. Rover has been adopted 🥳🥳🥳. That means Margot has earned the dubious honor of being our featured animal. The honor is dubious because it means she is now the longest resident at MCHS.
Margot has been passed over time and again by adopters because she is shy around new people. So we wanted to share some videos highlighting how loving she can be when she’s comfortable.
Margot gets along well with all of the cats, but particularly loves head-bonking the males, even Mr Grumpy Pants Honky Chonk here. She can also be very playful. And once she gets to know someone, she absolutely basks in their attention.
Margot really needs someone to give her a chance and a home where she can blossom into the sweet kitty our staff sees every day.

Meet the Dance Kittens: Jitterbug, Charleston, Lindy Hop, Cha Cha, and Foxtrot! Affectionately known by staff as the Wobbles.
You might be wondering where these kittens got their sick dance moves. It comes naturally because 4 of the 5 have “wobbly cat syndrome” or Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH). CH is a lifelong disorder that causes uncoordinated or jerky movements and tremors, the severity of which varies. It is most commonly contracted before a kitten is even born when a pregnant cat is infected with panleukopenia. The stress on her body results in the kitten’s cerebellum failing to fully develop. The result is a deficit of some sort of motor control.
As you can see in this video, the kittens’ coordination varies greatly. Jitterbug (the white and grey kitten) shows the most pronounced deficits. But you should also see that they are just as playful and fun-loving as other kittens!
The dance kittens aren’t ready for homes yet. They still need to be spayed/neutered. And on top of being exposed to panleukopenia before they were even born, they had calicivirus when they arrived. Please note that both of these serious and highly contagious illnesses can be largely prevented through standard feline vaccinations, so the main reason they have had to suffer through these ailments was the failure by humans to provide basic veterinary care.
For those interested in adopting one of these sweeties, please research how to care for a CH cat and make sure you can provide an appropriate environment. Luckily, these kids are able to use the litter box just fine. However, there are many accommodations that you should be willing and able to make, such as barricading stairs, providing carpets, using raised bowls, having litter boxes with low entrances but high sides, and never declawing them.
CH cats can live long, joy-filled lives, as well as, bring so much joy to their families. If you are interested in adopting a CH cat, please start by doing a little research and then r
