Walking nice on a leash becomes a lot easier once you have a solid recall. If the dog wants to come to you, it’s a lot easier to get them to walk by you. You need to develop a rhythm with the dog and walk in step together with them. Engagement is the name of the game #canecorso
Ooops, I left the gate open… this is why the recall is the most important behavior to teach, you need to be able to get the dog back to you when you need it and fast!
The Off Leash Recall is the foundation of our training, that about-face, hand break turn and speed back to the handler is the trademark of a good trainer. The #CaneCorso is not the easiest dog to get torque, speed and engagement from but we are getting there!
17 week old #canecorso puppy Sky working delivery to hand all over town!
11 different dogs, different breeds, ages and sizes. All have world class off leash recalls installed on them.
The off leash recall is the foundation of our training. It’s unanimously agreed on as the most important command among pro trainers. It’s the main characteristic every trainer should be judged on. If you can’t produce a solid off leash recall, you’re gonna have a hard time getting anything impressive after that. The speed on a recall is engagement personified. Our recall catalog holds up against any other trainer in the known world, compare and see for yourself.

Training should be vertical, you should always try to increase your dog’s skill set. First we deliver one object, then two, then pick up the dropped leash, then the car keys, then the bottle of water, then open the fridge and bring bottle of water and on and on.

Real World Recalls!….your best bet on teaching a recall is working in a drive and getting speed back to you. Working inside on a long line, dragging the dog back to you after you say “come” is never going to translate to when the dog sees a squirrel. When it comes to recalls, speed is the name of the game
Bodie doing the 2 object deliver to hand drill… for some dogs this is a lot harder than it looks and I am extremely proud of how far she has come the past couple weeks!

Nala helping new training dog, Koa, develop her recall. If you can get one dog to come when called, odds are the other ones will follow. Speed is the objective when teaching a recall
Owners doing the work! Our latest dog Dolly just went home a few days ago and it is great to see her owners putting in the work. A trainer can teach a dog anything, but it’s gonna go out the window without maintaining that work. Every dog I work should have drills owners can do to make training fun for the dog and keep them sharp on the behaviors they have learned. Great work Dolly and Patti!
