I am finally unpacked from attending the SSCA National Speicalty at Purina Farms. Our dogs did well and brought home some nice prizes. Below is the results:

Annie:
🌟SSCA National Veterans Sweeps: 2nd
🌟Heartland SSC: Sweeps 2nd and 4th in regular Veterans.
🌟SSCA National Veterans Class 4th.
PVSSC Veterans Sweeps 3rd. 🌟
Nessie:
🌟SSCA National Specialty 1st in Open B*tches out of 8 other females.
🌟PVSSC Specialty, 1st in Open B*tches out of 8 other females. RWB for a 3 pts Major!
Heggie and Vinny both made the Best of Breed cuts all weekend!!

Puppies still available from Nessie x Ottos litter. 2 girls and 2 boys are looking for their forever homes!!

About the Dam and Sire: Nessie was RWB (3 point major)at the PVSSC Specialty the week of the National Specialty!! She was reserve over 17 other girls. Otto has his CGC, BCAT, ATT and has shown in conformation too.
Both parents are fully health tested and have their CHIC #.

Katrina Maddux is an AKC Breeder of Merit, a member of Bred with Heart by AKC and a member in good standing with SSCA and PVSSC.

We made it to Purina Farms. Now we are resting before tomorrow. Annie is in Veterans Sweeps! The younger ones start at 9am!! Little Chloe came for the trip too!! Fun times with Aunt Annie at the hotel.

Another puppy is off….
This weekends trip was back up to Nashville but to the crazy busy airport. Where I lopped around twice to find the hotel. Lol. Annie came a long for the trip. Of course in Annie fashion she had to put on a show at the hotel. 🤦‍♀️ Sassy butt!

Reign On Glenlivet, Piper, pink girl from Nessie and Otto’s litter got to meet her new mom. They fly out tomorrow to finish vacation in Upstate NY and then home to Orlando, FL. Safe travels little one!!

CVET has been activated for a response to the Park Fire incident near Chico, CA. We will be assessing the animal shelter veterinary needs and more details will be shared as they develop.

Yesterday (July 22, 2024), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) provided an update to related to new CDC requirements effective August 1 for importing or traveling into the United States with a dog older than 6 months of age.

The revisions to the rule no longer require an additional rabies vaccination form certified by a USDA-accredited veterinarian or an official government veterinarian in the exporting country. Instead, for dogs entering the U.S. from low-risk or dog-maintained rabies virus variant (DMRVV)-free countries like Canada, the revised rule simplifies entry by requiring one form—the CDC Dog Import Form—that does not have to be endorsed by a veterinarian. This form requires the dog's microchip number, a picture, and an attestation that the dog has not been in a high-risk country in the past six months.

Additionally, instead of making travelers update this form for every entry, it will now be valid for six months. However, CDC will continue to require all dogs entering the U.S. to be at least six-months old and be microchipped. 🍓🥗Summer Fruit Burrata Salad🍓🥗
Ingredients:
2 cups baby salad greens
2 fresh peaches, pit removed and thinly sliced
⅛ cup thinly sliced red onion
4 cups cherries, blackberries, and strawberries
¼ cup roasted salted pistachios
½ cup loosely packed fresh basil leaves
8 oz. ball burrata cheese
Sea salt and black pepper to taste
Extra virgin olive oil or Meyer lemon infused olive oil
Balsamic glaze
Directions:
Make a bed of salad greens on a large platter.
Thinly slice the fresh peaches. Group several slices together and fan them out slightly, arranging them in different sections over the salad greens.
Pit the cherries and slice them in half. Place small piles of cherries and blackberries around the platter. Remove the stems from the strawberries and slice them in half. Scatter the strawberries over the platter, grouping them to make a beautiful arrangement.
Sprinkle the red onions and basil leaves over the entire platter.
Drain the liquid from the burrata cheese and place the ball in the center of the peach and berry arrangement.
Sprinkle the entire salad with sea salt and black pepper. Squeeze ½ of a lemon (or more to taste) over the salad.
Drizzle the peach burrata salad with lemon olive oil and balsamic glaze.
To serve, gently tear open the ball of burrata. Scoop the peaches and other fruit onto a salad plate and pile with a scoop of the creamy burrata cheese.

It’s getting to be pretty busy around here with last vet appointments with the puppies. Heggie’s puppies are starting to make their way to their forever homes. CDC Dog Importation Update for CKC Members:

In addition to the Member update we e-mailed out today, we have just received a further update from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

The CFIA is currently unable to endorse export documents for dogs to the U.S. because they are still in discussions with the CDC regarding the process.
