Congratulations to Bernie McDermott for being the "Volunteer of the Month" over at The Humane Society of Harford County. Volunteering at the municipal shelters is an extremely important way to help the animals. There are so many ways to help even if you can't donate money, or adopt.

UPDATE: Adopted!!!

Honeybun came to FARM in need of a forever home. He is a 12 year old, 8 pound neutered male Chihuahua. Honeybun is shy, quiet, great with other dogs, good on the leash, and fine with cats. He would prefer a quiet home with no small children. Meet and greets for approved adopters will be by appointment. Maddi came to FARM in need of a forever home. She is a 4 year old, 10 pound spayed female Shih Tzu who is looking for an adult-only home with an experienced dog owner. (Maddi has been exhibiting some resource guarding behavior while in our rescue and needs someone who is willing to work on this issue with her.) She loves to go for walks, and is ok either being an only dog or having a small, non-dominant dog friend (She also needs reinforcement on her housebreaking skills.) Maddi is excited to to find a new home and a new owner who will help her become the great pup we know she wants to be. Meet and greets for approved adopters will be by appointment. These are cute for animal lovers around this time of year, or anytime.

Peanut Butter Paw Print Cookies

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
48 melting chocolate disks
144 chocolate chips
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a large mixing bowl, beat together butter, peanut butter, sugar and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
Add the eggs and vanilla, stirring to mix.
In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda and salt.
Add flour mixture to peanut butter mixture and mix until just combined.
Scoop slightly rounded tablespoonsful of dough onto a sheet pan leaving two inches between the balls of dough, a small cookie scoop works well for this. Roll balls of dough in additional granulated sugar if desired, otherwise roll them between your hands until they are a smooth ball.
Bake for 7-9 minutes. The cookies should look puffy and soft, but set.
Press 1 chocolate wafer into the lower center portion of each cookie, then add 3 chocolate chips to make a paw shaped pattern.
Move cookies to a wire rack to cool completely. Allow chocolate to reset before stacking for storage.
