We wanted to share some insights into Moose's recent evaluation results. Moose, with his boundless affection and eagerness to socialize, didn't quite meet the criteria for passing his test. His unwavering desire to greet other dogs and people, while a testament to his sweet nature, led to some challenges in maintaining focus during the assessment.
While Moose may not fit the traditional mold of a working dog, we firmly believe that his exceptional qualities make him an outstanding candidate for a loving pet. His affectionate demeanor and love for companionship make him an ideal match for a family looking to welcome a furry friend into their home.
We're also thrilled to report that Moose has made remarkable progress since his initial assessment with Smiley's Rescues, particularly in his interactions with children. Despite initial concerns, Moose has shown great improvement and is now thriving in the presence of kids. It seems our abundance of love and attention may have played a part in his remarkable transformation!
Moose's journey reminds us of the importance of patience, understanding, and the profound impact that love and positive reinforcement can have on a dog's behavior.

This was a dog that actually bit me the first time I met him less than 24 hours before this video. As soon as I walked in to take off my shoes he grabbed the back of my leg and ran away. With lots desensitization, teaching leash pressure, and heavily rewarding good behavior he started to come out of it quick. Let me tell you this was one of the worst fear reactivity cases we have worked with both Alison and I got a fear bite multiple times the first day. We knew this was all out of fear so we stayed calm and worked slow. This was day 2 after one 2 hour session with him! Watch him at the end he actually puts his legs out and is in a relaxed posture. He has come so far already and we can’t wait to keep working with him!
