Update on Dutch (Shortbus)
You would never know that this is the same girl that came here last week! She has a spunky personality and has started to play!! ♥️
Welcome to the pack, Lyla ♥️
Welcome to the pack, Lyla ♥️
For those of you who don’t know Cody’s story, he came into rescue with very little socialization. This means he has to be sedated for any grooming. This past week, he was shaved down and had a dental. He’s a bit nakey now and wears a sweater most of the time. I just took off the one he had on and I’ll be putting another on after this video.
He had 5 teeth extracted but needs an additional 6 removed. However, his vet felt that he needed a break so we’ll make an appointment for the others in a month or so.
He’s come so far but still has issues and that will take time. He’s a bit socially inept, but he’s learning to trust, and love… he sleeps with me, curled in my side. ♥️
Hi, TJ’s Landing here. We are a partnered hospice/end of life sanctuary with RESCUE 55021. This past month, we have been hit with some very expenses. So many of you have given and we are so very grateful for you. The work I do at TJ’s is very much supported by RESCUE 55021. We are partners and right now, they have 52 cats/kittens in care not to mention the dogs and building expenses, We are struggling to pay vet bills and keep our head above water. I hate asking for donations, I absolutely hate it. But right now, we desperately need help. This video shows the dogs of TJ’s.. some have passed, some are still with me. We are trying so hard to do right by the animals that need us but we have had to put a hold on any intake because we simply do not have the funds to take in any more right now. If you can donate even a few dollars, we would be incredibly grateful. Thank you so much for considering to donate. We can’t do what we do without help.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Jasper has cancer and over the past 2 weeks has severely declined in mobility and appetite. I was hoping he would have at least the summer to enjoy but his health is now saying otherwise.
Here at TJ’s, my focus is on quality of life and when that is no longer evident, mercy, compassion and dignity are the priority.
Monday afternoon I will be letting Jasper go. Because of his poor mobility, this will take place here, where he is most comfortable. Until then, every day will be his best.♥️
Update on Jasper..
This sweet boy is coming out of his shell! He has started leaving his spot on the tile by my front door to walk around a bit and interact with the others. He’s also a huge fan of belly rubs, lol!
Yes, you can see his tumors. And yes, they are cancer. In my previous post introducing him, I didn’t want to show them because I felt that they would take away from the beautiful boy he is. Then I realized that they are part of him and every part of him is beautiful ♥️.
Celebrating Wendy-Lou♥️
Video taken by Christy Holzer💕
Life with Wendy-Lou has always been a major pain in my butt. From the day I brought her home, this girl has been a force to be reckoned with. She is fierce. She is independent. She is smart. She is stubborn. She is often cranky and hard to deal with. She can look right at you, pee on the floor and walk away. She guards entryways from the other dogs because she wants to. She kicks others out of their beds just for fun. Wendy-Lou bit me once because I tried to move her on my bed. Then she licked my hand as if to say, “I’m sorry but you pissed me off.” 😂
Wendy-Lou has exasperated me in ways I can’t even explain.
But, she guarded me when I fell and broke my leg. She wouldn’t let any of the other dogs get near me. In fact, the EMS had to put her in another room to be able to care for me. Wendy-Lou loves me as much as I love her. Her devotion to me is only matched by her strong personality.
Now, I know that soon I will have to let her go.
Here’s one of my favorite videos of her. I’ll be sharing more as the days go by♥️.
Update on Wendy-Lou:
Unfortunately, Wendy’s meds are no longer as effective as we’d like. Her coughing has returned and it’s a stressed respiratory cough. I spoke with her veterinarian today and sent her this video. It seems that due to Wendy’s chronic bronchitis, she has developed some tracheal or bronchus collapse. Increasing her prednisone would most likely cause other issues with her current condition so that is not an option that would give her quality of life. So, we are at the end of what can be done for her. From here forward, I’ll be watching her closely and when her coughing is causing more stress to breathe, the decision to let her go will be made. I don’t know if we have days, weeks or months. I do know she will have the best of what she has left. She’s a cranky old bat, but she has my heart in her paw ♥️.
House manners are new for Cody. At first, he would bark incessantly when he wanted something. I’ve been working with him on his ”inside” voice when he needs something and praising him when he does.
Just look at him being such a good boy with his new manners and asking nicely!!
🥰
Potty time after the storm🤣!
Wendy-Lou is expressing her displeasure at EVERYTHING tonight. She’s been spitting mad at everything and everyone that moves. I swear, she’s convinced that every other dog here is in her way, in her space and she’s determined to let ALL of us know about it..
Sigh.. 😕
I adore her but tonight she’s a B on wheels. 😐
Ozzie is doing great! We did need to adjust his diet a bit to get him to a healthy weight. Doxy’s have long bodies and carrying extra pounds can cause back and hip issues. At 14 years of age, it’s important that he maintains a healthy weight so his back and legs can support him. ♥️
Finnegan’s personality is generally happy but he’s VERY crabs if you wake him up and he’ll bite. In fact, he’s so crabby about being disturbed when he’s sleeping that he always sleeps at the far bottom left of my bed…until now 😬😂!
Happy Saturday everyone! We had our state inspection today, I’ll be posting those reports when I get them! 😁💕
Update on Wendy-Lou. She’s begun to struggle a bit more lately so I feel another vet evaluation is needed. At first, 10mg of prednisone was keeping her comfortable but she’s begun struggling again. She does love the couch and the comfy spread I’ve put for her. I’ll keep you updated and thank you all for your support, it’s truly appreciated ♥️.
I’m so sorry for not posting much lately. My injury has made things difficult and I’ve been resting quite a bit. I hope to be on both feet soon but here’s a look at some of the crew!
