MOOCOW UPDATE: it’s not good.

Whilst he is still eating, energetic and acting like himself, his upper respiratory panel tested positive for Calicivirus, feline herpes and bordatella. His repeat CBC, which we first ran in house, and also sent out to the lab was largely the same as a week ago, only with a further reduced hematocrit, down from 27 to 24, the addition of regenerative anaemia and a few other oddities.

My wonderful vet did consult with Idexx (the lab we use) about Mooey’s results, and they do believe that his body is trying to produce new blood cells and platelets and that he may just need more time; so for now we are staying the course. We will continue on the doxycycline, famciclovir, and steroids, and recheck his CBC early next week.

I cannot begin to express adequately how worried I am for little Moocow. Please keep him in your thoughts and send healing energy his way; and please, please help with his veterinary costs by donating and sharing. Moocow really needs all of us.

Thomas had his annual exam last week and got to spend the day with one of his absolute favourite humans (and mine), ! Thomas is in tip top shape and was so good for both his examination, and his vaccines, though he does need to lay off the extra helpings of crunchies a little 😂 - don’t worry Thomas, we’ll get that pound off you in no time!

Thomas has come so far from the train wreck that came into my clinic just over a year ago. He may be a leg down, but he is absolutely perfect in every way and the bonifide king of the bunny kicks!

Thomas’ visit was just over $100, if you are able to help out with that, I would be so grateful. We are dangerously low on funds right now, due to all the vet visits we’ve had lately.

It’s and Moocow really needs your help.

About a week ago, Moocow started to show symptoms of an upper respiratory infection; so he was placed on doxycycline and famciclovir, with twice daily nebulisations with saline and seemed to be doing ok, but on Thursday he came to the clinic with me and when we arrived, he was bleeding from the nose, this continued for a little while and I immediately got one of the doctors to look at him.

She was very concerned, so we took swabs for an upper respiratory disease panel (for which we are still awaiting results), and we ran a CBC. It showed a lower than normal (but not dangerously so) red blood cell count, a very high white cell count, a lower than normal hematocrit (which controls clotting), and, most concerning of all, Moocow’s platelet count was 0-2.

I am so, so worried about him.

We added steroids to his existing medications, and will recheck his CBC early next week, but although he is eating, drinking and acting like himself, there is a real possibility that we could lose him.

Moocow is only 7 months old. He’s a really little guy and is the sweetest boy.

Please help me to help him by making a donation toward his care. His vet bill from Thursday was $400, and depending on the results of his CBC on Tuesday, depends on our next steps.

I really need to raise $1000 for Moocow. Please help me to help him.

Can you believe how big she is now? Muffy is scrungle no more!

It is very much safe to say that over the last 6 months or so, she and I have become even closer. I joke that she is my emotional support Muffin, but in all honesty, it is completely true. Muffin always makes me feel better when things are tough. Thank you my sweet Muffin ❤️

Peek-a-boo I see you, Honeybun!

Yesterday I had to say goodbye to Oscar.
Oscar was 22.
I rescued him from a hoarding situation early in 2024.
He was the sweetest old man, with the crankiest meow and all of the cats loved him. Edie was obsessed with him, she would groom him; Oscar was confused but took it all in stride.
