💡Grooming Tip Of The Week 💡

Ears!! Why should we look at them and clean them ??

🐾Prevents infections
Ear infections can be caused by bacteria and yeast that thrive in a buildup of dirt, wax, and moisture. Regular cleaning will eliminate that build up and the secondary infections.

🐾Removes debris
Ear canals are shaped like an "L" and can trap debris, making it difficult for your dog to expel it.

🐾Helps medication work
If your dog has an ear infection, medication can have trouble reaching the infection if the ear is full of debris.

🐾Prevents other issues
Ear mites can cause intense itching and inflammation, while allergies can make your dog's ears red and sore. These are extremely uncomfortable issues to have and regular cleaning and attention will help eliminate these parasites and other issues from getting out of control.

🐾Keeps your dog comfortable
Regular ear cleaning can make your dog feel fresh and comfortable. You should check your dog's ears weekly for signs of irritation, infection, dirt, sensitivity, or parasites. You should clean your dog's ears: Once a month for healthy ears and After each bath or water activity. Avoid using Using Q-tips or similar cotton-tipped applicators - instead use a cotton ball soaked in a cleaning solution.

🐾Seek Medical Assistance
See your vet if any redness , persistent itch, smell or leathery looking skin or parasites are present.

💡Grooming Tip Of The Week💡

Baths! Why is bathing your dog important ? Here are a few things to consider.... 🛁🛁

🐾Skin health:
Regular bathing helps maintain a healthy skin barrier by removing dirt, grime, and irritants that could lead to skin infections or irritation.

🐾Coat quality:
Bathing removes excess oil and loose hair, resulting in a shiny, soft, and manageable coat.

🐾Allergen reduction:
By removing allergens like pollen and dander from your dog's fur, you can help alleviate allergies in yourself and other household members.

🐾Parasite control:
Using a specialized shampoo can help prevent fleas and ticks by eliminating their eggs and larvae from your dog's coat.

🐾Early detection of issues:
During bath time, you can check your dog's skin for any signs of irritation, lumps, or abnormalities.

🐾Bonding experience:
Bathing can be a positive bonding experience for you and your dog, helping to build trust and familiarity.

🐾Important considerations:
Breed-specific needs: Different dog breeds have varying coat types and skin sensitivities, so consult your veterinarian to determine the appropriate bathing frequency.

🐾Quality shampoo: Use a dog-specific shampoo formulated for your dog's coat type and skin sensitivities. Human shampoos can be harsh and cause irritation to your dogs skin.

🐾Proper drying: Ensure your dog is thoroughly dried after bathing to prevent skin issues.

💡Grooming Tip Of The Week 💡

🐾 Choose the Right Tools :
Having the right brushes and using them correctly will make or break your brush out Many people brush regularly but use the wrong kind of tools, resulting in matted dogs and a lot of wasted time. Not only does the type of tool matter, the quality does as well. There's a noticeable difference between the results from a low-quality brush versus a high-quality one. At minimum a good slicker brush and a steel comb are going to be your winning combo.

🐾 Line Brushing
Line brushing is a technique that groomers use when brushing dogs. It helps you find each tangle, allows you to brush all the way to the skin, and gives you more manageable chunks of coat to work with at a time. This technique is helpful for most coat types other than short coats.

Here's how to do it:
* Part the hair. Choose a starting spot for the process, preferably near the bottom of one of their legs. Part the hair so that it makes a horizontal line on your dog’s skin. This will allow you to see the chunk of hair below the hair you are lifting.
* Start brushing. Using a slicker brush, brush the hair underneath the part you've created. Run through with a comb afterwards to make sure you got all the tangles.
* Repeat. Move up about a finger width or two and make a new part. Brush through the hair directly under the new part. Check with the comb.
* Keep at it. Continue this process until you've covered the whole coat, moving up each leg and across the body.

🐾 Use A Detangler
While not necessary, using a detangler spray before brushing can really make a difference in your dog's finished look. It will help you glide through tangles and leave the coat with a nice sheen. Spray a few squirts on your pup and spread it evenly with your hand. Make sure not to overdo it, or your dog's coat could end up greasy or tacky. If you don’t have a spay corn starch works nice too.

🐾🐾 here is a quick video showing how to brush your doodle and gives great detail on the line brushing process and other things that are helpful to know when brushing and grooming your pup. 🐾🐾

This is Brownie... She had a rough start in life and is pretty scared of most things so I brought some reinforcements with me today so we could give her all the time and flexibility she needed. She didn't like being touched on her back end at all and was pretty terrified of the dryer. So I held her in my lap and Tony held the dryer and we sat on the floor together and pretty soon she was just as relaxed as can be. We were able to overcome a lot of her fears today and she stood there so nicely for her hair cut and everything else. She was a super trooper today and we are so glad we were able to help her feel better and she is a happy sweet girl! 🥰🤩🤩🤩
