POLICIES:

• We do not allow trials

• We do not allow potential buyers to come ride (see our FAQ on website)

• We do not allow unscheduled visits to the farm

• We ENCOURAGE PPEs, ALWAYS. We can only tell you what we have observed ourselves, as well as the information given to us by past connections

• We will hold a horse for three days once a PPE is schedule, a decision must be made in those three days

• We do not accept deposits to hold horses

• We do not accept payment plans on horses – unless horse is to remain on premise until payments are made in full by arranged due dates, lack of and/or missed payment forfeits right to horse and forfeits proceeds placed toward purchase of horse – horse may not be ridden or removed from premises until payment in full, due to insurance and safety reasons. Feed/farrier/dental/vetting/board is responsibility of buyer during this time as well.

• Every horse is sold with a solid contract in place, failure to follow contract can result in legal action and associated fees

• Horses come with any and all documentation regarding pedigree, vetting, etc. that is readily available to us and in our possession.

• If horse does not have a coggins at the time of the sale, it is the responsibility of the buyer to schedule (and pay) for a coggins - as well as a health certificate in order to ship.

Our sole focus at Second Wind is not just finding any suitable home for OTTBs, but to find a home where each horse will thrive and grow with its rider.

Anyone can take horses and just sell them, but we pride ourselves in playing great "matchmakers".

We want to ensure that each horse we place/sell, is going to excel in that home. We like to match personalities and abilities of the horse to the rider. We feel that this will ensure the best partnership and a lasting home for our OTTBs. If that means a horse stays with us for awhile - then so be it, we are in the market of making matches and lasting partnerships rather than a buck in the pocket.

We also pride ourselves in our method of pricing; making good, sane, healthy horses affordable to the general public.

Our horses come directly off the track in most instances and will get a full evaluation while with us to gauge level of ability, soundness, and overall disposition. While we typically will put an initial ride (or two) on a horse before listing, some may stay with us for awhile to get more rides and even potential show outings under their belt. We do, however, generally like to keep post track rides low as to ensure eligibility for potential RRP showing.
