Ellie guarantees safety before experiencing it. She has a fondness for Daisy, provided she doesn't invade her bubble too long lol

Rosie eating breakfast yesterday. She's our nervous Nelly, scared of her own shadow girl. She gets to eat by her bed, that's her most comfortable spot.

Part 1 of 2 Molly! Getting organized in this video. Sorry for the poor video. Molly was so excited for her walks!

Daisy!!! She's a pistol on leash. We have been working on leash walking while she's here. Her walks are cut a little short since she is a handful. But she's a good girl who loves her pets!!

Part 2 of 2 Ellie

08/12/2024

Part 1 of 2. Ellie is scared of new people and places. Her mom had her do an overnight with us to see if she could adjust. We took this time to build trust building exercises. At drop off yesterday, I allowed her to do things at her own pace! Then midday figured out getting at her level, she liked better and I gave her mini pepperoni treats as she approached me and let me pet. She refused to go outside so she hadn't went to bathroom since being here. Well!!!! As you'll see in the upcoming videos she trusted me enough to walk her and she went potty!!!!

We have seen this in dogs we have trained. It's preventable if you are aware of your dog's threshold and level of tolerance. Reach out to us or Trick 4 Treat Training LLC for helping you prevent trigger stacking.

We have all been there at some stage so why should your dog be any different?

WHAT THE F?

Recognising stress responses in dogs.

Fight or flight are well known reactions to fear or stress, but these other “F” words are also important to understand and be aware of as they may not always be so obvious.

Freeze, Fawn, Fidget or Fool around are also responses to stress or fear and are also commonly seen in people.

Some dogs may have a genetic predisposition to one type of response while some react based on previous experience - what has worked for them before or what hasn’t. Some dogs have different reactions depending on the specific context.

Recognising and taking note of situations or circumstances where these responses are seen is important in understanding how our dogs are feeling.

When we recognise a fear or a stress response, we are able to intervene and advocate for our dogs.
