Good afternoon.
We will have wifi maintenance Thursday 8:30-9:30 am. If you call during this time and are unable to leave a message, please call again after 10 am. If you leave a message but do not receive a call within the normal timeframe, please call again as the phone system might not have saved your message (for emergencies, return calls are expected within 1 hour; for all other calls and inquiries, return calls are expected that afternoon or the next day).
Thank you for your attention. Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays, everyone. We will be closed Christmas Eve at 12 pm and will remain closed through Christmas day. Normal hours of operation will resume December 26th. We will close again at 12 pm on New Years Eve and will resume normal hours on January 2nd. If you need medications to make it through the closures and the holiday weeks, please call for refills now so we have enough time to fill your pet’s prescription. Some of our doctors will be travelling as well, and we will be unable to approve and/or refill prescriptions if your doctor is out of the office.
As a reminder, if you are planning to board your furry companion, please contact your boarding facility to determine what vaccines and dewormer your pet needs to stay there (and to schedule their stay). We are adding Canine Influenza to our recommendations if you plan to board in the Lewiston/Clarkston area. This vaccination requires a booster 2-4 weeks after the initial vaccination. Please call to schedule any vaccine appointments today - we are booking three or more weeks out for all vaccination/wellness appointments.
Many of our 4-legged friends are anxious about travel and the loud celebratory noises of the New Year. Some tips and tricks for these kiddos are below:
- You can use pheromones to aid in relaxation in a room/crate or in the car while travelling: Feliway for cats and ThunderEase for dogs. Both come as spray or as a diffuser that you can plug in.
- Place them in a room that is far away from the fireworks. Make sure they are comfortable with the room/crate and have access to water.
- For dogs, we have thunder shirts available: these are like a tight hug and help some dogs with the stress of loud noises.
If you know your furry friend will need prescription medication to be calm, please call the clinic now. You will need to schedule an appointment if we have not seen you and your pet in the last 12 months, and as listed above, we are booking out three or more weeks for wellness appointments.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Good afternoon, all. Due to increased clientele and patients on the prairie, our schedule is extremely full. This includes spays/neuters, vaccines, and illness exams. If your animal (dog, cat, cow, horse, etc.) needs an appointment, please allow time for the overly full schedule: we are booking out into March for all surgery appointments, and 3 weeks out for all non-emergent exams.

Happy November.
Thanksgiving is approaching. We will be closed Thanksgiving Day (11/28). If you need medications to make it through the holiday while you travel, please call for refills now so we have enough time to fill your pet’s prescription.
Additionally, if you are planning to board your furry companion(s), please contact your boarding facility to determine what vaccines and dewormer your pet(s) needs to stay there (and to schedule their stay). Please call to schedule any vaccine appointments today - even if you aren’t boarding until Christmas - we are booking three or more weeks out for vaccination appointments. Happy Thanksgiving!

Good afternoon, all. If you have a puppy, or are planning to adopt a puppy, please read the following carefully. We have had a recent uptick in parvovirus cases in our canine companions. Parvovirus is extremely contagious: it can be carried on your shoes if you visit another location with the virus. It can also be spread by wild canids including coyotes and foxes. If your puppy shows signs of vomiting, diarrhea, inappetence, or lethargy, please call ASAP: the virus can act very quickly and can lead to death in immunocompromised patients.
Due to past “outbreaks,” we at Ferdinand Veterinary Clinic strongly encourage EVERY dog gets vaccinated yearly for parvovirus. Below is the vaccine schedule. Please call today to schedule your puppies and adult dogs.
The ideal vaccination schedule is as follows: puppies receive their first dose at 6 or 8 weeks of age, then they receive doses 3 weeks apart until they are 16 weeks old. If a puppy misses a vaccine, they are at a higher risk of contracting parvovirus.
If your puppy or dog is older than 16 weeks old, they still need one booster of the vaccine 3-4 weeks from the first. Then yearly vaccination is recommended: we have had several adult dogs contract the virus and die.
As a reminder, we are not currently taking new clients. We suggest you call your current veterinary clinic and schedule with them.

Visit https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951468 for more information about the vaccination schedule, and https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4951460 more information about parvoviral infections.

Good afternoon all. As a reminder, we are booking surgery appointments in January. We strongly encourage everyone to schedule a spay appointment for their female cats who will be at least 6 months old in January, February, and/or March. Many cats will stop cycling in the fall and restart in January or February. This leads to many kittens being born in early spring. Please call today to schedule your appointment.
As a reminder, we are not currently taking new clients. We suggest you call your current veterinary clinic and schedule with them as they are certainly as busy as we are.

Hello, all.
Dr. Megan has injured her foot and will be out of the office for the next few weeks. We ask for your patience and understanding as wait times will be longer than normal while she is healing. We shall continue to offer sick patient exams for current clients and do our best to accommodate emergencies. Routine procedures and wellness exams will be more limited in availability. Thank you in advance for your kindness and patience.

Happy Wednesday.
PSA: To decrease the number of unwanted kitten litters, we strongly encourage everyone to schedule a spay appointment for their female cats who will be at least 6 months old in January or February. Many cats will stop cycling in the fall and restart in January or February. This leads to many kittens being born in early spring. We are currently booking surgery appointments in January, so please call today to schedule your appointment.
As a reminder, we are not currently taking new clients. We suggest you call your current veterinary clinic and schedule with them as they are certainly as busy as we are.

Hey, Y'all.
We will have routine maintenance on our wi-fi this evening from the hours of 5-7 PDT or so. Our phone system is connected to the internet, and sometimes it doesn't save voicemails made while the internet is down. If you call during that time and do not get a call back within the expected timeframe (30 minutes for emergencies or tomorrow midday for all other inquiries), please call us back and leave another message. Thank you for your understanding.

Good morning and happy Friday.
We know that sometimes you are unable to bring your animal in for treatment. If this is the case, it is very helpful to write down exactly why your animal needs an exam and/or surgery, how long it has been going on, and the contact number for us to call you. A method of payment is needed, and make sure the person is over 18 so they can sign for surgery consent and/or pick up medications if the animal can go home right away.
