This little guy was a rescue that had some serious hoof neglect on our first visit. He had not only a heavy toe curl on each foot and they had their own twist. We were able to get his lines straight, his heels are no longer contracted and his patterns are nice and straight. His new owner has given him a new fun lease on life and I'm glad to have been able to help get his feet back to normal.

It may seem like there are a lot of days between now and the beginning of breeding season, BUT we are just FIVE weeks from the beginning of foaling season AND we are under 80 days until the breeding sheds open. Please check out this infographic Gabi Sutton Vermeulen made during a past equine reproduction lab on lighting. Mares often don't cycle until April or May naturally. So if you have open mares that you plan to breed early, you will need 60-90 days of artificially lighting BEFORE breeding. Its TIME to get started!! Whether you bring your mare in a stall with lights on a timer or invest in a light mask, you will be more successful this breeding season if you start planning now!!

I had someone ask about my experience going to the ELPO. It was an amazing experience and the dedication and knowledge of the instructors was phenomenal. I would tell anyone that has the chance to attend even once to don't pass it up.
