Meet Mr. Blue
He was first born for this litter and a strong nurser from the start. He’ll be brown/white and is middle of the pack for weight.
When I sit in the pen, he loves to be held and snuggled.

Meet Mr. White
He’s the 5th born and the smallest of 9. He had a slow start, requiring formula feedings for his first 2 days until he was able to nurse without being knocked off by his larger siblings. But he doubled his weight on day 7 and is definitely a fighter, tunneling under the rest to find the best spots, for nursing or sleeping.
Today, he’s the first to open his eyes!

Meet Ms Pink.
She’s the only female of 9 and will be heading to MN in March. I love the little duck tail on her head! Right now she looks very white but underneath, her roan coat is hiding.

Happy New Year and Welcome from our D litter. Freya x Lovec puppies whelped 01/01/2025.
8 males and 1 female. Two of the males are brown/white and the rest are roan.
The delivery had its ups and downs but now they are all gaining weight and after their first week, over 1 # each.
Freya is a light roan Czech import and Lovec is a dark roan with a Czech sire.
*Both are OFA- Excellent and Navhda UT prize II

Freya and I did a little tune up at a game farm before our upcoming grouse weekend. I actually hit a double when 3 flushed!

Right on schedule, Freya delivered her beautiful puppies on May 3rd.
She and her 4 females and 2 males are doing well and each pup has doubled it’s weight in the first week. Freya is a very attentive mom, nursing, cleaning, and snuggling them.

I am thrilled that Freya will be having 7 puppies next week!
While it’s difficult to see, I especially love the two bottom puppies who look like they’re hugging💕

These will be some amazing puppies from proven parents.
Freya is a Czech import with Excellent hips per OFA and one of very few female SM’s to have passed her Navhda Utility test. The sire, Lovec, also has Czech lineage, Excellent hips and has passed his Navhda Utility test.

Oh my, just when I think Freya’s belly couldn’t get any bigger! And still more than a week left to go. Yesterday I could feel puppies moving and see little ‘kicks’.

This Thursday she will have an Xray and I’ll post another update.

Freya has really blossomed with her pregnancy this week. She’s still comfortable and with just a small waddle in her gait.
In less than 2 weeks we’ll get an Xray for a puppy count - always an exciting moment to see all the tiny heads and spines!

This little nugget has grown up to be such a handsome boy. Shotgun Rider’s Atlas was the largest puppy and went to a Colorado family who had initially wanted a little girl. But Milo has been a great fit for this active family and wiggled his way into everyone’s heart. Thank you Kris and Mike for being great pet parents!
Males can be the sweetest of the breed.

It’s always wonderful to see posts and pictures of pups after they go to their new homes. As I get ready for Freya’s next litter due 5/3, I’ll be highlighting a few from previous ones.
Here are a few of my favorites of Edna, Shotgun Rider’s Barbora. Swimming like a pro at 10 weeks and chukar retrieves at 5 months.

I love this photo of Freya and I, right after she passed her Utility test. I’m obviously happy, she’s probably hungry and ready for the drive home. It’s a long day for the dogs and she was just over 2 yrs. The previous year she had passed her NA and VJP and she had a long summer getting ready for this advanced hunting test.
Freya’s excellent structure and genetics, combined with this training foundation, makes her a dream to hunt with. She is quick and athletic with a solid point, checks back around so we are hunting as a team, and has a nose like no other. I don’t worry about losing birds as she is driven to find them and come straight back to me.
Her sweet and happy temperament makes her a pleasure to have in the house too.

We are Expecting!
This breeding between Freya z Romanova chovu and Brush Dales Cheap Shot (Lovec) is the only currently approved SMCA litter where both the dam and sire have passed the Navhda Utility test. Also, both are OFA Excellent for hips.
