❇️ Muppet is our ten (10) year old rescue poodle mix that was lost on 12/1/21 while visiting Flagler Beach, FL. We were staying at a vacation home with family in the 2600 block of North Ocean Shore Blvd. aka A1A. Muppet was outside on a supervised potty break at approximately 1030pm before bed when he wandered around to the front of the house. I followed him and called out to him but he disappeared in to the night. We immediately searched everywhere for him, but could not locate him. This behavior was very unlike him. There were no tires screeching or yelps for help, just silence and Muppet was gone and we have not had any sightings of him. ❇️
Muppet is a very friendly dog and will go up to anybody. While searching for Muppet immediately after he was lost we noticed a small light colored SUV on the side of the road and a homeless person walking near the vehicle. We asked the person if they had seen Muppet and they claimed they had not and they identified the small SUV as their vehicle. We didn’t think much of it, until an exhaustive search was completed and we couldn’t find Muppet. We looked EVERYWHERE. We left out scent items and food for him, we hung many signs and passed out hundreds of fliers, we visited all of the neighboring homes, we constantly checked (and still check!) the local animal shelters, and we even had a local radio station make lost announcements for him. Muppet had vanished!
We feel like somebody picked up Muppet and chose not to return our sweet little loving boy. That breaks our heart. He is an emotional support dog and very missed. Muppet was wearing a collar with identification tags and he is microchipped. Maybe it was the homeless person we saw or maybe it was somebody else that was out walking.
But just as Muppet slipped away from us, he could just as easily slip away from someone else if he was picked up and not returned to us.
Please be attentive to anyone you see with a dog that looks like Muppet, whether it’s a homeless person or a new neighbor down the street. Please try to take a photo and get it to us, along with info as to who had the dog. It just takes ONE person seeing something and acting on that to get our sweet boy home.
Share this all over the US and Canada as Flagler Beach is a popular tourist destination during the winter months. Please also share his story with any poodle rescues or homeless advocates in your area!
There is at least one person out there that knows what happened to Muppet - please help us find that person!!
Please also keep an eye out for him in the area he was lost in case he wanders back there looking for us - North Ocean Shore Blvd. aka A1A near Shelter Cove Drive in Flagler Beach, FL.

🔴 if you ever find a lost pet that is not wearing a collar with identification tags, please get it checked for a microchip (free at your local shelter or any vets office) and require proof of ownership from anyone claiming the pet! Please make sure whoever scans the pet is using a universal microchip scanner! If a chip is not found on the initial scan, please take the pet to a second location for another scan just to make sure!
🔴 if you work at a vet’s office, please always scan new clients for a microchip! Lost pets are frequently rehomed without ever being checked for a microchip and the new owner may have no idea their new “rescue” has a heartbroken owner searching for the pet in their possession.
🔴 if you are a rescue organization and take in an unclaimed lost/stray pet from a shelter or owner surrender, please always check for a microchip and verify the owner information. The “owner” that surrendered the pet may have found it years ago and never had it scanned for a chip!
🟡 if your pet is not microchipped- DO IT! 🟡 Many local animal shelters offer microchipping for under $25. Your vet office can also microchip your pet. It takes less than a minute. It is also a good idea to have your pets microchip scanned during its annual exam to make sure it is still functioning properly and that it hasn’t migrated to an odd part of its body where it could be missed during a scan. This is not common but it does happen, especially if the pet has had some sort of trauma (hit by car, etc). Lastly, make sure you have registered your owner info with the microchip company and keep your contact info up to date!!
🔷🔷🔷 THANK YOU 🔷🔷🔷
PS - we have absolutely nothing against homeless persons and help them when we can. We are just describing what we saw and the circumstances around Muppet’s disappearance. We are NOT accusing anyone, we are just trying to follow all leads to find our boy!
