And now a New Year's message from Jackson Browne- "Wishing a Happy & Healthy 2024 To All Of My 2 Legged and 4 Legged Friends!"
We are very sad to report that Stevie Nicks, the sweet, extremely emaciated mare from the Barton animal cruelty case, died on Monday. In the short time that Stevie was with us, we became very attached to her and we were inspired by her will to live. Despite our best efforts and the exceptional veterinary care she received, she just could not overcome her previous, inexcusable mistreatment and neglect.
Day 22 with Stevie Nicks - slow and steady progress just like our vet likes! She is one tough mare with a will to survive! Hoping authorities will seek justice for her, the other neglected dogs and horses and the dozens who didn't survive. We are grateful to the Colbert County Animal Shelter for their work on this case.
Translated message from Jackson Browne - Wishing Everyone a Happy & Healthy 2022!
Wheeler the day he arrived at SRER. Be sure to scroll down and watch the previous post to see how well he is moving today.
Wheeler was found abandoned with a severe hoof injury a few months back. It is heartbreaking to think of the pain he endured prior to being rescued but we are super grateful that he has a happy future ahead. A huge thanks to all of the kind folks that make this life saving work possible by donating, adopting and fostering.
