UPDATES GUIDELINES AVAILABLE 📢

The AAEP has issued revised Internal Parasite Control Guidelines to help minimize the risk of parasitic disease and maintain the effectiveness of current drugs for as long as possible by delaying further development of anthelmintic resistance.

The updated guidelines account for recent advances in knowledge concerning increased anthelmintic resistance and optimization of parasite control management practices. They also address common misconceptions and offer parasite control program recommendations for senior horses (over 15 years old), mature horses (between 5 and 15 years old), and young horses (under 5 years old).

The guidelines were reviewed and updated by the AAEP Internal Parasite Control Guidelines Task Force, chaired by Dr. Nielsen and comprised of 10 AAEP members predominantly board certified in veterinary internal medicine, veterinary parasitology and/or veterinary microbiology. It's been a good run....
I have been doing animal chiropractic since 1996 and have held my certification through the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association since 1997. Thanks to this modality, I went off on my own in 1999 with the intent on doing primarily animal chiropractic while I grew my family. Of course that lasted for only a few weeks and for the better part of the past two and a half decades, it has been an adjunct to primary care and emergency work for horses. The canine chiropractic portion of the practice has grown exponentially over the past three or four years.
In order to meet the demand, I have unsuccessfully attempted to have someone come in to do the chiropractic portion of the practice.
As many of you know, I have had some lingering musculoskeletal issues that have proven to find the right practitioner to aide me in healing. The physical and repetitive motion I use with chiropractic is not helping this process either. I tried in winter to slow down the number of patients I saw and because I can't say no very well, it lasted about 2 weeks. That said, I now have to take a more aggressive approach.
As of June 1, I will be discontinuing all animal chiropractic, tenatively until September. I hope that between time off and potentially finding the right practitioner, a few months off will be all I need to heal. I ask for your understanding and continued good thoughts during this time.
All other primary care services we offer for horses and barn pets will remain the same. Fridays will remain a primary haul in day.
I cherish each and every one of you. For my canine friends, please don't hesitate to stop in. Coffee's on, and we will make sure to have snacks available for any surprise visits.

Selene is recovering well, almost too well. She has to be confine fir a month, which is soooo hard. Anyone have 4-12foot corral gates I can rent to get her outside? TIA!

Prayers for little Selene, all 300 # of her at 20 days. She has had a low grade fever since birth that rose a bit yesterday despite medical management. She will undergo surgery today to remove the urachal remnant which is the most likely source of bacterial showering. This should alleviate any chances of septicemia or joint infections, which can rapidly become life threatening. Updates will follow!

Discing and cultimulching today. We used the forecart so we could swap out easily between pieces of equipment. There was enough moisture to get the disc deep enough without burning the horses out. We could have used a few more acres to work!

I got no pics...none.., of the sale.
