Minnesota Veterinary Neurology Minnesota Veterinary Neurology is redefining what excellence means for the neurologic patient

MVN HOSPITAL DOORS OPENING
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29TH, 2025 Louis.

Dr. Missy Carpentier, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology) is proud and excited to bring Minnesota Veterinary Neurology to Columbus, MN. Minnesota Veterinary Neurology has been established to provide easy access to superior care for the small animal neurologic patients in Minnesota and the surrounding area. MVN will be the first and only neurology specific specialty hospital in Minnesota. Background:
Dr. Carpe

ntier graduated from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Following veterinary school, she completed a rotating internship in Connecticut at VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center. She then completed a one-year post doctoral fellowship in the Comparative Neurology Program at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Carpentier stayed in Missouri to pursue a three-year neurology/neurosurgery residency that was jointly performed at The University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine and Veterinary Specialty Services in St. At the completion of her residency, Dr. Carpentier received the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine Resident Research Award for her work on 3D Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Dog Spine in Hansen Type I Intervertebral Disk Disease. Dr. Carpentier has been practicing in the Twin Cities for 7 years. She enjoys all aspects of neurology, from the medical side of managing an epileptic patient to improving and maximize their quality of life, to the surgical side assisting a patient to be able to walk again and live a pain free life. Dr. Carpentier also brings the experience from the pet owners side, having to manage her own dogs with epilepsy, atlantoaxial luxation, and intervertebral disk disease (yes she takes her work home with her even when she tries not to!). Dr. Carpentier enjoys educating fellow veterinarians through her work as a neurology consultant for VETGirl and speaking across the country providing continuing education opportunities for the veterinary community.

This sweet girl was brought in by her loving family, trying to find an answer to what caused her severe, acute neurologic signs that placed her in a coma. An emergency MRI was performed that revealed an abscess in her brain and she underwent an emergency craniotomy on Saturday. Here she is, less than 48 hours post craniotomy, ready to take on the world and demanding all the snacks 🩷🩷

Meningiomas are the most common primary brain tumor in cats, accounting for approximately 60 percent of feline brain tumors. At MVN, we are well versed in caring for these patients, offering life-saving surgical removal of these tumors. Our doors haven't even been open 3 weeks yet, but we already have been able to perform this life-saving surgery in 2 kitties and have another planned for next week! This is exactly why we are here - providing exceptional care for the dogs and cats in the surrounding area.
Don't forget, we are here for you 7 days a week, 365 days a year!

Pictured below is a MRI performed of a cat with an intracranial meningioma. The bright area under the arrow is the meningioma after contrast has been administered.
