Surprise summer babies! Unfortunately the girls neglected to tell me that Rosie had fur in her box yesterday and by the time we found babies today ants had managed to find their way in. She was several days overdue and didn't fight when I attempted a rebreed so I had stopped checking her. She had about 9 chocolate babies but only 3 made it. She pulled tons of fur and you can tell she tried hard to clean the ants off. 1 chunky broken, and 2 chocolate otters. 1 of the otters is on the small side so I'm not sure it'll last with the ant bites it got. I cleaned the box out and moved her to a different cage area. Even if these don't make it it's clear she'll be a good mom and I'm so proud of her

Bebes chosen bun for the fall, a broken blue girl. Not sure if this one will stay but she's real soft and has a nice deep color. All of these are in their awkward shape stage but should fill out nice, both her parents are on the smaller side though. I'm hopeful she'll turn out bigger than mom. We've also been experimenting with keeping the show picks inside, I'll need to get a larger frame for them but they have been much easier to train

We've had several losses the past week related to the storms. A large tree branch fell on my big hutch frame and broke several beams. We won't be able to pick up more 2x4s until the first so we've had to move most of our cages to the garage to keep everyone cool and safe. Most of our babies are weaning age and curiosity led half of Priscillas litter to pop through their door and run the side yard. We managed to catch 2 and found 1 dead to bloat in the grass, leaving 1 left still missing. Priscillas litter was our best so far and now I'm down several show prospects due to loss or ear injury 😪. Hopefully the last one turns up, they were all our blues

Built a tent out of sticks and logs for a duck today. She made a fluffy pile of feathers under the fallen tree just behind her but it wasn't gonna be enough to keep any rain out tonight. She was kind enough to not try to eat my fingers or claw my arms when I picked her up. She's nice and comfy now

I've been working on nails and weights in-between finals this week, I have been pleasantly surprised by our babies. Most have had great temperaments even with as little as we've been able to handle them lately, and so many of them had great little bodies even if their color wasn't keepable. One of our feeders even got saved from butcher this week because he looks so good. 6lbs at 3.5 mo he's clearly been hogging the bowl. He's nice and hefty with a thick coat, if he keeps improving he'll make a good match for Stella and will also help in our Tri's.

Wits End would like to offer up this beautiful little Castor Rex Doe for discussion. Shes 6 weeks and can be pedigreed. Will not be released to home until after she is successful seperated from mom with no tummy issues, likely about 9 weeks. I love the way she looks but don't have the space to watch her grow since we already have a castor doe we'll be breeding from. We will be keeping back several of her litter mates for show and she may be a good show-er as well, she is super sweet and easy to work with. Meat and show homes only please. We had our first show this weekend and feel we did pretty good considering our buck was older than most and Stell had such a hard transition with us. Both Stella and Rosie got several Best of Variety and Best Opposite S*x Variety several times, and Larry (Blanco Brown) even won Best Opposite S*x Breed in one of his shows and was asked for a breeding. Bebe tried showmanship and her girl Rosie got so many compliments. It feels good to have confirmation that our breeders are as good as we feel they are and we're working in the right direction. Rosie will have a few more shows before winter and Stella may even make 1 or 2 more before her first breeding this fall. We've got several little buns we're keeping an eye on to be able to test them on the show table as well now that we have a better idea of what to select for

I just wanted to post prices on here so I (or you) can look back and check since my brain seems to be failing.
12 chicken eggs are 3
18 chicken eggs are 4.5
6 duck eggs are 2.5
12 duck eggs are 5
Rabbit fryers are 18
We do make other products every now and then but they're usually based off how they turn out or current cost of materials. These prices are also minimally based on feed prices and are simply what I feel is right considering I know how hard it is to find quality healthy foods for your family. I want our excess to be affordable to those that need it. We will also gladly take trades on anything and would be glad to help anyone start to produce these things for themselves.

I've been behind on egg totals and just sticking most eggs from this week in the fridge so they don't age at all on the table. I have one 18 ct and about 5 dz chicken eggs available, and 3 dz duck eggs available. I do not have enough cartons for all of these eggs but would love to exchange eggs for a handful of cartons or you can bring a bowl or your own carton. Let us know if you need some
