Greetings pack members! Coyote Ridge Veterinary Clinic will be closed on Saturday August 31st as we remodel our clinic with some new flooring. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We will also be closed September 2nd in observance of the holiday.

Meet Maximus, a ~1yr little dog who will steal your heart. A couple weeks ago, we got a text from a rescue down in NM stating that Maximus would sadly have to be put down if no foster for him was found. We agreed to take him. He was thought to have generalized Scabies (a highly contagious mite) turns out he had a less contagious mite called Demodex. Despite having a severe skin infection, bilateral ear infections, being malnourished, and having roundworms, Max is the sweetest boy. 20 days later and he’s a completely different dog! We have linked his go fund me to help continue his care until he finds his forever home.
Whatever money we gather for Maximus and end up not using will be put on the side to help whatever rescue comes to us next.

Meet “Hot Mess” from Animal Rescue of the Rockies. He was found outdoors all alone and immediately brought to Coyote Ridge. He had an upper respiratory infection, ulcerations in his mouth, inflammation in both eyes and loads of debris in his ears! The staff at CRVC went to work and just a few days later he’s on his way to healing. He’s playing and eating like a champ. We love the rescue kitties!!

This is Heidi. Heidi is confused because she doesn’t understand fireworks (wishes everyone could just wag the tail to express happiness). Heidi wants you to know that more dogs go missing on July 4th than on any other day of the year due to firework-induced panic.
A few things can be done to help:
1) oral sedatives - can help keep our friends calmer. We're always happy to discuss these options and are just a phone call away
2) pre firework exercise: if you can, try to go on a hike or walk with your dog to tire them out and hopefully limit reactivity later on
3) schedule feeding and potty break early to limit outside time when fireworks are on full display
4) create a comforting place away from the noise - try setting up an area away from window (maybe a large closet or some space in the basement) where your pup can feel comfortable and protected.
5) comfort your dog
6) make sure to have some sort of identification on your dog just in case. If they escape, that’ll give them a better chance to be returned.

Today was an eventful day at the Ridge! As Dr. Fauron was driving to work she came across 2 dogs running on the highway and worked hard with a couple good samaritans to get them into her car. After about 30 minutes they were en route to the clinic. Our staff was happy to give them a safe place to stay until their owner was off work. Luckily for those pups, they escaped without injury!
