Hey all! We are hoping to start doing more fundraising beginning next year so we have ample funds to do TNR consecutively throughout the warm months.

We have amazing people on our team and we have come up with some ideas but we would love to hear what the public has for fundraising ideas!

Team work makes the dream work and we can't do this without the help from the community. So feel free to comment any ideas you have!

Feral cat house folks!

This week is quieter now that Angeloโ€™s doing well with recovery and we want to start organizing who is willing to do what with the feral cat housing. Please comment below and tell me how many youโ€™re willing to make and Iโ€™ll start setting materials at the acreage for pick up!
So far we have coolers from JRG Livestock & Pet Supply and some straw that has been donated!
Supplies still needed:
Totes
More straw

Please remember you can provide these if youโ€™re willing to make some houses!

Also, this is something extra weโ€™re helping to organize and is NOT a responsibility of WCAP. We want to help the kitties stay warm this winter and set ourselves up for success with TnR next year for Webster County TNR .

Hey cat lovers! Anyone willing to help construct some feral cat housing if I can gather all the pieces? Styrofoam, totes, etc?

My thought is this - if we can get a good resource spots available for the winter for these kitties, itโ€™ll help us to find TnR them next spring.

PM me if youโ€™d be willing to volunteer your time for kitties!

"HAY is for HORSES, STRAW is for STRAYS!" ๐Ÿ˜ป

On your next trip to the garden center or farm store, pick up a bale of straw! It's inexpensive, will last you a long time and the perfect bedding for your cat shelters so the kitties stay warm and cozy overnight. Always use STRAW -- and here's why:

โœ…STRAW is tough, thick, dry leftover stalks from crops. It's lightweight and golden in color. Straw has a hollow center which makes for great insulation. Straw will reflect body heat back to a cat as well as repel moisture.

โŽHay is green and heavy. Hay is typically used to feed animals, like horses. It absorbs moisture, making it damp, cold and uncomfortable for cats and has the potential to get moldy. Do NOT use hay (or blankets) for bedding in outdoor cat shelters.

๐Ÿ‘‰For an easy way to remember which to useโ€ฆ
"Hay is for Horses, Straw is for Strays."

You can easily find and buy bales of STRAW inexpensively at your local co-op, farm/ag supply store, local garden center/nursery, Home Depot, Lowe's, Tractor Supply, Ace Hardware or local landscape supply. Farmers who sell pumpkins often sell bales of straw, too.

Thanks for keeping those outdoor kitties warm and comfortable!

KITTEN SEASON PSA: We're in the midst of kitten season, which means you may be hearing the tiny mews of kittens outside or finding litters in bushes and other protected places. You may have the urge to scoop them up and bring them to the shelter, but in most cases, this is not whatโ€™s best for the kittens. Donโ€™t kit-nap! Itโ€™s important to remember that not every outdoor kitten needs saving.

Staying with mom is a kittenโ€™s very best chance of survival. Unless they are in a dangerous spot or clearly sick/injured, human intervention is often unnecessary. So what should you do when you find a litter of tiny kittens? Check out this chart for an easy guide or visit our website at https://ow.ly/9OSo50PpxFj!

We decided to make a page specificly dedicated to animal controls TNR program! Feel free to share this page and we look forward to helping the community with the feral cat issue.
With it being VERY hot outside, we thought it would be best to wait to do another trap weekend until it starts to cool down so the cats don't overheat in the traps.
For now we will be focusing more on fundraising and we hope to get back into trapping in September!
