100% this! We do it because we love it but there's SOOOOO much that goes into it.

WHAT YOU DON'T SEE AT THE DOG GROOMERS.......
You dropped your dog off at the salon and picked them up few hours later - fluffy, fresh, and happy. But what you saw was just the tip of the iceberg.

You didn’t see your groomer arrive early to open up the salon, disinfect tools, lay out fresh towels, and check the day’s appointments. You didn’t see them look over your dog from nose to tail before even lifting a brush - checking the coat condition, skin, eyes, ears, nails, and weight.

You didn’t see the careful way they clipped around a wriggly paw, or how they paused to let your dog calm down during the bath. You didn’t notice the matting hidden beneath your dog’s topcoat, or the way the groomer worked slowly to avoid hurting the skin beneath it.

You weren’t there when they spotted a red patch of irritated skin, or a small lump you hadn’t noticed. You heard them gently mention it to you at collection - not to worry you, but because they genuinely care about your dog’s wellbeing.

And after you left, you didn’t see the clean-down , the floor swept, tables cleaned, blades oiled, messages replied to, notes written up for your next visit, and laundry on again.

All of that… for a price that’s often lower than what you’d pay for your own haircut. And your hairdresser?
They don’t have to bathe you, clip your nails, or hold you still while you try to bite the brush.

The truth is ……. dog grooming is so much more than a haircut.

It’s about health, hygiene, comfort, and trust. It’s about knowing dog anatomy, coat types, skin conditions, behaviour management, handling skills, and safe sc******ng techniques. It’s a profession that takes training, practice, and patience.
Most groomers got into this work because they love dogs. But that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be paid fairly for the physical, emotional, and skilled work they do every single day.

If your dog leaves their groomer happy, healthy and looking good - it’s not by luck. It’s because you have got a good groomer.
So next time, take a moment to thank them. Leave a review.

Tip them if you can. And above all - don’t undervalue them.
They’re doing far more than just washing the dog.

For anyone close to that area🤗🐾 it's a cash only event! Make sure your pets are current on vaccines and microchipped 🐩🍑❣️

Make sure you mark your calendar folks spring clinic is right around the corner.
And remember you are not allowed to block Stevens Road, you may park on the shoulder if you are completely out of the lane of travel and not standing in traffic or obstructing traffic flow in any manner. The spring turnout is usually busier than the fall, but we get the people in and out as quickly as possible, and if the weather cooperates, it really is a good time.

Stolen from another groomer, but tweaked it a little because it's SO worth sharing! 🥰

I keep seeing folks in local groups ask:
"Are there any dog groomers who aren’t crazy expensive?"🫠

And I get it—money is important! Finances are personal, and every dollar counts.
But maybe we could gently reframe that question just a little bit... 🤔

Instead of asking for a cheap groomer, what if we asked for one who’s:
• Trained
• Experienced
• Continuing their education?

Here’s something a lot of pet parents don’t know:
Dog grooming is an unregulated industry. 🤦🏽‍♀️

That means literally anyone can call themselves a groomer—no training, no certification, no safety knowledge.
(Yikes, right?!)

Your pup is a living, breathing, wiggly little lovebug—with sharp tools around them.
Skill matters. Experience matters. Education matters. 📚

There are amazing groomers out there—the ones doing it right!
They’re:
• Getting certified, which theres not one singular dog grooming certification. You can just get certified for particular things for different aspects of grooming.
• Learning new techniques
• Attending trade shows & workshops
• Joining Professional Grooming Associations to hold themselves to a higher standard

Prices will always vary—that’s normal! But when it comes to your dog’s comfort and safety, it’s worth asking more than just “how much?”

Let’s normalize asking things like:
• Is the groomer experienced?
• Do they continue their education?
• Is the salon clean and calm?
• Do they have insurance? Do they have a valid business license?
• Do they understand dog behavior and safe handling?

Because, in the long run, the goal isn’t to save a few bucks—
It’s to make sure your fur baby is in the safest, most loving hands possible. ❣️

Not the cheapest option that could land you at the vet—or worse.

Your pet deserves better than bargain grooming. They deserve care, compassion, and quality.
And so do you. Always.
