For the past 3 years Danielle worked at Petco as a Senior Dog trainer and Dog Training Instructor Mentor. At home she has a 2 year old American Staff./Boston Mix, named Tahlia and a 6 year old Chihuahua named Riley. Growing up she trained horses and for her 11 year old birthday present she got her Standard Poodle named Shadow. They did everything together from; competitive obedience, agility to be
ing a certified therapy dog team. Now Tahlia has taken up the baton- she is a certified AKC Canine Good Citizen and is doing training in K9 Nose Work. At the University of New Hampshire, Danielle studied Psychology with a focus in Animal Behavior. While there she also taught therapeutic horseback riding, dabbled in service dog training, and worked in behavioral research labs. She also spent sometime in Africa working with various animals, but mostly training Cheetahs and Baboons who couldn't be re-released to the wild. Danielle is also a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers which is a national organization for the ongoing education of trainers with the most up-to-date, well researched techniques. She also is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer- Knowledge Assessed through the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers. Danielle's training programs promote relationships of mutual respect and trust between pet and pet parent. This is accomplished with scientifically proven, humane, positive, and voluntary, reward-based training methods to teach how dogs think, learn, and communicate. Her goal when working with dogs is to encourage appropriate dog behavior and to teach real-world applications for dog training.
