🐾 A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Amazing Fosters! 🐾

We want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to our incredible team of fosters. Because of your compassion and dedication, so many pets get the second chance they deserve — a loving, permanent home.

Animal Services is especially thankful for you during kitten season (and all year long!) when the number of kittens in need far exceeds the space we have. Your willingness to open your homes and hearts makes all the difference.

💛 From all of us at LCDAS, and on behalf of the pets of Lee County — thank you for everything you do!

Congratulations to our Crisis Intervention Team graduates!
Senior Officer Mayer, Officer Byler, and Senior Officer Wallace recently completed a 40 hour Crisis Response and Intervention Training through the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI).

Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training is a comprehensive 40-hour course designed to equip law enforcement officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively respond to individuals experiencing mental health crises or emotional distress. The training aims to enhance the response capabilities of law enforcement agencies by:

-Enhancing understanding of mental illness and substance use disorders
-Teaching de-escalation techniques
-Providing access to community resources
-Emphasizing a compassionate and trauma-informed approach
-Fostering partnerships with mental health professionals and community stakeholders

Also, special acknowledgement to our very own Senior Officer Leo Avila for participating as a speaker in this educational program, sharing his expertise in Large Scale Animal Hoarding.

Two-year-old Florida Curr, Lola, recently enjoyed a “Doggie Day Out” and had the best time visiting our downtown staff! As you can see, she had her pick of toys, full access to the hallways, and made herself right at home. We’re not sure who had more fun—Lola or the staff (though we’re pretty sure it was a tie!).

Lola’s adoption fee is waived with an approved application as part of our promotion with the BISSELL Pet Foundation. Visit LeeLostPets.com to complete your application today!

Happy 4th of July from Animal Services! 🇺🇸

We hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday. As you celebrate tonight, don’t forget to keep your pets safe and comfortable:

🐾 Walk them early before fireworks begin
🐾 Keep them inside in a quiet room with their favorite blanket, bed, or toy
🐾 Leave a TV or radio on to help drown out loud noises

If your pet isn’t microchipped, you can still help them stay safe! Stop by a local pet store and have a tag engraved with your contact info, and make sure it’s securely attached to their collar.

🚨 If your pet goes missing, check LeeLostPets.com and come visit us on Saturday between 8 AM and 4 PM.

Let’s keep our furry friends safe tonight!
